We’re looking forward to introducing you to Deborah Powell. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Deborah, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Eating ice cream in my car lol
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
well hey there, I’m Deborah further known as Shottie Pippen. I am a photographer founder of Deborah depicted Media and production. I’m big a self-esteem advocate. That’s one of the things that sets my brand & business apart from others. My clients always leave me better than how they came. I coach through out the session and speak life into them. My biggest super power is Holy Spirit, If not for my relationship with God I would not be the caliber of photographer I am today. I started out just taking pictures for friends brands and businesses back in college and I’ve had a camera in my hand ever since. I really became amazing behind the camera because God told me to get in front of my own. It forced me to really see the beauty in and outside myself . Seeing the good helped me work through my areas of opportunity. To really own my significants and be unstoppable. My journey led me to being a church photographer for 3.5 years. I can truly say it was an era and afforded me some great opportunities. From shooting the likes of Sarah Jakes to being given the honor of shooting the Wutang clan forever final chamber concert. I am currently working on a few big projects and training courses as that has been what is demanded of me by those who support me.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Shyness. lol I was never shy . Over time adapted to not feeling safe in the environments I was in. I will talk to and show love to everyone. I hold proverbs 17:28 dear. I don’t believe in forcing words or forcing a moment because people won’t listen to you nor value what you have to say. I’ve come to learn my presence is strong and felt in the rooms I walk into. I haven’t the need to be the center of attention. my confidence speaks for its self.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being seen. Through out my child hood and teen years people would see I was good at things and try to humble me attempting to destroy my self-esteem. I’ve alway been my own person. I am a very talented person with great intellect. I know people are intimidated by these things because they don’t know who they are and what significants they poses. Over the past year I have really conquered that fear. Not caring about how small someone feels by me simply existing.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Making sure people know that Jesus doesn’t just save you. He loves you and has a life for you that you can only dream of if you trust him by taking heed to his words to you directly along with scripture.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The world was sure I walked with Jesus and he walked with me. He knows me and I know him. by the life I lived in public and private.
