We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nadi’. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Nadi’, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding joy in simply reconnecting with myself. Ive been taking time investing in my health, moving my body, and creating little moments of peace in the middle of all the chaos. I’ve been rediscovering what makes me feel strong and beautiful outside of music, and that balance has been fueling my creativity!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nadi’ and I’m an independent R&B artist and songwriter. My music is rooted in real-life experiences! It’s raw, emotional, and unafraid to tell the truth. What makes my brand unique is that it’s not just about creating songs, it’s about creating connection. Every lyric and melody is designed to resonate with people who have loved, lost, and are still finding themselves. Right now, I’m preparing to release my debut album this November, which is the most personal and powerful body of work I’ve ever created
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was the little girl belting songs at the top of my lungs in my room, fearless and full of life. I led devotion at church, poured my heart into poems and songs, and loved creating art without worrying about being awkward or different. I truly believed I was destined to be a GOAT. I had unshakable confidence and thought the sky was the limit
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I literally had to get it out the clay. Growing up in Quitman without a silver spoon lit a fire in me to never go back. Suffering taught me resilience, grit, and resourcefulness in a way success never could. I have lost everything multiple times, but I have always found a way to make a way out of no way, working factories, odd jobs, starting businesses and side hustles just to keep money in my pocket. Now I know I can always bet on myself. Coming from the bottom teaches you that nothing in life is given, and that knowledge pushes you harder than any success ever could
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to think that good things would always happen to good people, that if you put good out in the world, the universe would reward you. In a perfect world, that might be true, but the world isn’t perfect. Nothing is black and white, and good people don’t always win. In fact, I know many good people who face the hardest struggles in life. You have to develop thick skin, or life will chew you up and spit you out. Good people still need to set boundaries. That doesn’t mean you stop caring or having a good heart; it simply means you create space to protect your own well-being
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Now I’m doing what I was born to do. I am walking in my true purpose. For years, I did things I didn’t love because I thought they would get me further in life. I went to college, started businesses just for the money, and put out content that relied on sex appeal. None of that was my purpose. Life has a way of reminding you who you really are.
I was afraid to tell people I wanted to do music because I worried they would laugh and say I was just one of many musicians who would never make it. I feared failing financially and in life. They told me I had to be a doctor, nurse, or lawyer to succeed. But I have learned that true success comes from living in your truth. Music has been my passion since I was seven. I wrote my first song then. I was shy and secretive about it, so my closest friends are like, “Whaaat?” This is where I started: in my room making music. The universe brought me back to it.
For the first time in my life, I am doing what I was destined to do
