We’re looking forward to introducing you to MARLENA WILLIAMS. Check out our conversation below.
Hi MARLENA, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
⸻
My first 90 minutes really set the tone for my day. Depending on the week, the first thing I always do is thank the Heavenly Father and Mother for blessing me with another day and the ability to create. Within the first 15–25 minutes, I take a shower—sometimes right after a good workout, sometimes before—just to refresh my body and mind. I also check my mail and calendar to make sure I’m on top of any appointments or important tasks. One of my favorite parts of the morning is taking a moment to meditate, soak in the fresh air, listen to the birds chirping, and watch the sunrise. That quiet time gives me clarity, peace, and focus before I officially start my day
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a young, educated Black woman from the heart of Atlanta—born and raised among the peaches. My journey began at a very young age, growing up in a rough area yet blossoming like a lotus determined to rise and bloom. My life is a story of resilience, growth, and creativity, and I embrace it as a living movie still being written.
I am a multitalented individual with a passion for creating, manifesting, and viewing life through the eyes of a creator. Laughter, joy, and building meaningful memories are at the core of who I am. Left-handed and deeply drawn to arts and crafts, I’ve always found beauty in expression. Athletics also shaped me early on—my kindergarten teacher first discovered my gift for speed, sparking my love for running track.
Beyond my creative and athletic side, I truly enjoy the simple yet powerful practices of working out, reading, drinking tea, and reflecting on the beauty of creation. I believe every day is an opportunity to walk in purpose, live in gratitude, and discover what God has in store for me. My mission is to not only live fully but also to be a positive impact and an influence within my community.
I am currently working toward building a movement rooted in truth, love, and beauty. While there is much more to share in time, just know that I am dedicated to creating something meaningful, impactful, and transformative. I believe time will reveal the full vision, but I am confident that I’m working on the next big thing—something that will inspire, uplift, and leave a lasting mark.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
⸻
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when my mom told me, “If you ever want to find something, go look in a book—the answer is there.” At a very young age, I put that advice into practice. I remember wanting to log into the computer but not knowing the password. Instead of giving up, I went through the book where it was written, found it, and logged right in. In that small moment, I felt so accomplished because I realized how resourceful and capable I truly was. That experience taught me early on that knowledge is power, and with the right mindset, I could find solutions to anything
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
⸻
Yes, there was a time I almost gave up because everything seemed to hit me at once. The weight of life was heavy, especially as a young woman who had been figuring out life on her own since the age of 13. Not having my father in my life definitely left an impact, but instead of breaking me, it pushed me to strive for greatness.
One of the hardest points was during beauty school. Those 10 months were some of the most intense months of my life. I was losing so much, but at the same time, I was gaining knowledge, resilience, and strength. There were moments when I just wanted it all to be over. People doubted me, judged me, and even said I deserved the pain I was going through. I stayed silent at times when I felt I should’ve spoken up, and lies were told on me, but I chose to keep my peace.
Looking back, I realize that I didn’t give up—I pushed through. I put in real work and came out stronger. Today, I stand as a walking testimony that perseverance, faith, and resilience can carry you through even the toughest seasons
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
That My Creator is Real
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think what people will most misunderstand about my legacy is how I always put God first and was able to remain graceful, beautiful, and full of laughter despite everything I’ve been through. From the outside, it may look effortless—but the truth is, it took strength, faith, and resilience to keep shining when life tried to dim my light. My laughter and my joy were not signs of an easy path, but proof of my ability to rise above it all.
