Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Hanna Newman of Acworth

We recently had the chance to connect with Hanna Newman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hanna, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Learning a new skill or medium always makes me lose track of time/find myself as an artist again. When at times my practice has been slow, exploring new mediums like video and welding always reignites my obsessiveness in the studio.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Hanna Newman and I am an artist. I make sculptures, I take photographs, I create videos, sounds, and so much more. Ultimately, I consider myself an installation artist.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my family, close friends, and those that I have high respect for has most shaped how I see myself.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Vulnerability.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My mentor and friend, Christina A. West.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m in the groove in my studio.
