Story & Lesson Highlights with Shardae Bennett of Clayton County, Georgia

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shardae Bennett. Check out our conversation below.

Shardae, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Doing things that fear has prevented me from doing. Most recently even though I can’t swim I have snorkeled. I am scared of animals but I have went to a sloth and monkey sanctuary. And I have had the most exhilarating experiences doing the very thing I had not thought I was capable of doing. Trusting yourself to grow yourself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a self published author that has successfully published ten books that deliver warm conversations and guidance around children’s social concerns. This social concerns range from: ADHD, Autism, Self Confidence, Co-parenting, to Mental Health and Emotional Intelligence.
While have a strong hand at advocacy as a nonprofit founder supporting families who need to understand how to navigate the world of ADHD and Autism.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a singer and a believer in happily ever afters. And when the world delivered spaces of grey, I learned how to find the color in the challenges.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are amazing and you will find your love and light within. I know this sounds crazy but don’t let your families narrative become the narrative that you give yourself. Even when you fail know that it’s a bigger win following it as long as you accept it as a lesson.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I make sure everyone around me is good and feels supported. I am everyone’s biggest cheerleader and biggest protector.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was a writer/advocate of victory. In 2018 I had a stroke and lost my ability to speak a 100% and walk at a 100%. But knowing that I was told that diagnosis was final. I decided to be intentional with the rest of my life. I decided to create the things I couldn’t find to help the kids and families that needed them. And I worked myself back to speaking and walking at a 100% on my own. Through meditation, prayer and personal work.

I decided that I would be “Positively Impactful” with the rest of my life. Which is why I have written books and completed givebacks to give support to families in need.
