We recently had the chance to connect with Jaytilya Watkins and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaytilya, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
That depends on which day you’re talking about. Monday-Wednesday or Thursday-Monday. Lol, When I’m not working overtime on my 10pm to 6am, From Thursdays-Monday. Mondays I’m spending time with my husband. Tuesdays & Wednesdays I’m filming on my new reality series “Love, Art, & Writing!” Lately, I’ve been trying to promote my upcoming book signing while filming it to.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jaytilya M. Watkins. I’m a an Women’s Author, Artist, & Documentrist with an adapted indie movie. I’m also filming a new reality web show that advertises creators like me along with the highs & lows of their creations. I’ve been illustrating for many years, I’ve been a writer since 2014, & filming stories for at least five years. The unique thing about me is I love seeing the underdog like myself having a good life. I want to help people like myself who are being looked over be seen. Everything that someone would consider unique about me comes from God.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was the one who was always rebelling against it.
I’m still rebelling now, which is why I haven’t gotten where I need to be. But I’m going to keep fighting, until the very end.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, in my mid twenties. By the time, I had gotten into my late 20’s I realized if I didn’t get up and do something that I wasn’t going to get anything done. I must say, I’m happy I did.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I don’t have many friends. My best friends are my husband and mom. I have one friend on the outside of them. I hope she’s proud of me.

When I’m with my loved ones.
