Good morning Jovella, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Painting has been a powerful catalyst for personal evolution and creative expression in my life, fueling my passion and inspiring meaningful growth. It has brought me tremendous joy and a sense of fulfillment, unlocking new possibilities and potential.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone, I’m Jovella, founder of Thank Heaven Sweets, and I’m thrilled to have reached this milestone, ranking among the best cakes in Austell, GA, four years on. As a dedicated chef, full-time mom, and passionate individual, I continue to nurture my love for painting, cultivate meaningful relationships, and find inspiration in documentaries and music, proving that with hard work and determination, it’s possible to bring your passions to life, no matter how busy life gets.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
At seven years old, I triumphantly learned to ride my bike without training wheels, propelled by a fierce determination to overcome each setback. Despite numerous tumbles and scraped knees and elbows, I channeled those disappointments into an unwavering commitment to achieving my goal, and ultimately, I emerged victorious.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Following the stillbirth of my second child this year, I found solace in the cherished memories of my first child, whose life was a four-year blessing that ignited my inner strength. Through my faith, therapy, and rekindled passion for baking, I transformed my heartache into resilience, emerging stronger and more empowered than ever.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My 14-year-old daughter, Sariah, who brings immense joy and fulfillment to my life, consistently demonstrates extraordinary maturity and wisdom, inspiring me with her thoughtful perspectives and innovative ideas.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Three am, a moment of stillness, where I tap into my most transformative thoughts, and prioritize self-care that nourishes my mind and soul.
