An Inspired Chat with Dezy Jackson Hughes of Dallas, Ga

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dezy Jackson Hughes . Check out our conversation below.

Dezy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?

My faith! I’ve been in church my whole life being a PK and I’ve always believed and had faith in God, but life experiences has caused me to trust God even more daily because I’m Learning him for myself and fully where my help comes from!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dezy Jackson Hughes and I am the owner of Classyface by Dezy. I have been a makeup artist for 8 years. I’m originally from the Oakland, Ca (Bay Area) but decided to follow my dreams and my family and myself moved to Georgia for me to pursue my makeup career. I absolutely love what I do! I love the reactions, the smiles, and being able to be part of special moments as an artist. Anyone of my clients will tell you I’m heavy on the self love and confidence. I state to anyone who sits in my chair or that my brush touches, “ there’s beauty before the stroke of the brush”

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother! She always said I was going to be something great one day. I just had to believe it myself and that I would get there. She saw far more greatness in me before I could ever see it in myself

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely, a few times! Simply because I wanted my journey to be a quick fix, and that is where we go wrong most times especially as entrepreneurs. We fail to realize things take time. Nothing happens overnight. And to never compare your journey or success to someone else’s time frame. As long as you keep in your mind that giving up is not an option, it will never be an option, and that dream will happen.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
My faith and beliefs! I believe in God! The big G not the little one. No shade to any other religions or any other beliefs but my record with him has been consistent and his the same with me. And with out God I would have and be nothing!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
She believed she could, so she did!
