Toi cheri Kyles shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Toi cheri, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Well, a normal day for me right now is running 2 businesses while helping rebuild my clients business and working as an assistant buyer for a fashion company. So I am busy these days, but I enjoy it. I like being of service, while I’m waiting on Gods promise.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Indigoz Shoes, out of Atlanta, GA was birthed by me, Toi Kyles. I attended Marymount University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, I began
developing my unique skills by
personally producing and coordinating fashion shows for my exit exam at the University.
Upon obtaining my degree, I entered into a much coveted internship with Carl Brown, part owner of FUBU. As I began developing my career I observed there was an obvious void in
the shoe industry when it came to intertwining Style and Maximum Comfort.
This led me to discover my passion for promoting healthy
footcare and desire to transform the shoe industry. My
astounding creativity mixed with my experience has also led
me to develop a special insole Indigoz Insoles, that is inserted in every shoe from Indigoz Shoes, that is currently patent pending.
As Creator and Owner, of Indigoz Shoes, I am not just selling shoes. I am the shoe designer in the true
sense that I create the vision from beginning to end.
Dreaming up trendy, comfy, fashionable high end footwear,
Drafting the sketches, working closely with the manufacturer
throughout the production process until the shoe is just right
for you!
Currently, I have started selling the insoles outside of the shoes, you can find Indigoz Insoles exclusively being sold on Amazon, while having the mass production of my new shoe collection manufactured. I have alot of great things planned for the future and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of me feeling powerful, was when I walked my first runway fashion show at the age of 5, I was so proud and happy in the designs I was wearing and the cheers and encouragement from the crowd, just fueled that energy I was feeling. This made me feel powerful in my own way, making people smile and applaud made me feel happy and powerful.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I can’t say there was a time where I felt like giving up, because if your passionate about your goals and dreams you wake up and sleep them, but I can say there were times where I was redirected from them due to financial needs, that at the times my goals and dreams couldn’t fulfill. On my journey and in the process, I have worked as bartender, medical assistant, front desk receptionist, and teacher. All of those experiences I pulled from and applied them to my businesses and I am grateful for, but in the true end I am always led back to Indigoz Shoes and Indigoz Insoles. So I never wanted to give up, I just got redirected to be directed back to my goals and dreams.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to the success and movement of Indigoz Shoes & Indigoz Insoles, no matter how long it takes. I am committed to providing a stylish shoe, that is also healthy for your feet, and also providing comfort, energy, and pain relief to your feet when it comes to our insoles being sold separately. I have other projects within my company’s that will help our society from the success of Indigoz Shoes and Indigoz Insoles, that I will speak on at a later date. I’m committed to Indigoz Shoes and Indigoz Insoles until my wheels fall off lol, but also serious.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will say that I was loving and I rooted for everyone to win, that I went hard for both my companies Indigoz Shoes and Indigoz Insoles. That I loved to smile, have fun, and most importantly dance lol. That I kept God first and that I encouraged people when I could. At the end that I was love.
