Monique Nikkole shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Monique , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day starts with thanking God for waking me up and then I dive right into work. I complete an hour or two of work before my feet hit the floor.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello my name is Monique Nikkole and I’m a singer songwriter, real estate investor, author, publishing company and label owner. Yes, I wear a lot of hats. Currently I have a new single that I’m releasing on October 24th called “We Are One” it’s a Frankie Beverly remake!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was that little kid in Brooklyn who played all day until the street lights came on and I had to beat feet home. I was that kid that made her own mixtapes from the radio because I had to listen and learn every note and word. I was that kid that always knew I would be a success and had big dreams of singing and being a rich businesswoman.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are enough.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! What you see is what you get. One thing about me is I can’t be fake. If I like you I like you, if I don’t I don’t.. I don’t have time to be fake about anything. Life is too short and it requires too much energy to be something or someone I’m not.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I’ve always been a self starter that didn’t require anyone’s approval or praise. If I want it I’m going to get it regardless of what anyone thinks or not. I find my own motivation to keep going and to get it done. Now, of course it’s a wonderful thing to have support from the home team, friends and colleagues but I can’t wait or depend on that as a deciding factor on giving a task my best efforts.
