We recently had the chance to connect with Dekyra Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Dekyra , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
I’ve been surprised at how vulnerable my customers are willing to be. They’ll share personal stories about self-esteem, relationships, or faith journeys. That showed me that Darre’ Dior isn’t just a boutique, it’s a safe space where women feel comfortable showing up as their authentic selves.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dekyra Jones, and I’m the founder of Darre’ Dior Collections and the host of the On the Plus Side podcast. At the heart of everything I do is a mission to empower women through fashion, beauty, and authentic conversations, to embrace confidence, faith, and their true selves.
Darre’ Dior started as a boutique and cosmetics brand, but it’s grown into so much more than products. It’s about creating a lifestyle of self-love and empowerment, whether that’s through a chic outfit, a bold lipstick, or hearing a story on my podcast that reminds you that you’re not alone.
What makes my brand special is that it’s rooted in real experiences—I’ve faced health challenges, personal obstacles, and moments of doubt, but I continue to stand and build something meaningful. My customers connect to that authenticity. I’m not just selling fashion; I’m building a community where every woman feels seen, celebrated, and capable of becoming the best version of herself.
Right now, I’m excited about our upcoming Fall Collection for Darre’ Dior Boutique & Cosmetics and the next series of On the Plus Side, which will dive into real conversations on relationships, faith, and personal growth. I truly believe this is just the beginning of what’s to come, and I’m grateful for every woman who chooses to take this journey with me
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom saw me clearly before I could see myself. She always reminded me of my strength and worth, even in moments when I doubted it. Her faith in me gave me the courage to step into my purpose and build the brand and platforms I have today. Also, God saw me clearly before I could see myself. Even when I questioned my worth or my direction, His vision for me was bigger than my fears. My journey with Darre’ Dior and On the Plus Side is really about walking into that vision with faith
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. There was a season when I was facing health challenges while trying to grow my business, and I truly questioned whether I had the strength to keep going. It felt like everything was stacked against me school, energy, self-doubt. But in that moment, my faith became my anchor. I reminded myself why I started: to create something bigger than myself that empowers other women. That reminder gave me the courage to push through, and now I see that season as the foundation for the resilience I have today.”
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie is that beauty only looks one way, thin, flawless, and filtered. That narrative has left so many women out. Real beauty is diverse, inclusive, and powerful in every size and shade.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in the quiet moments when I can step away from the noise of business and social media usually early in the morning or late at night with my journal, my Bible, or a cup of tea. That’s when I can pray, reflect, and realign with my purpose. Those moments of stillness refill me so that I can pour into my brand, my podcast, and the women I serve with a full heart.
