Ebony Fleming on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Ebony Fleming and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
It was 2021 and just a few days after my birthday and I was laying there after an unexpected c-section. I was holding my baby girl in my arms and watched her open her eyes for the first time. I’ve never felt such an overwhelming feeling of unconditional love.

At the time, I didn’t believe I deserved it. Who was I to have the honor of being this beautiful little girls’ mom. Who was I to receive love in its’ most raw form?

It honestly took me a few years to understand that I was made exactly who God made me to be and I was made to be a mom to this little girl and now two other tiny humans. That I was born worthy of this type of love. I was only then, that I feel I began to accept it without question.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Ebony Fleming. I’m the founder of Thrive Empowered, LLC; a wellness and lifestyle brand helping moms unlock their family’s food story. I’m a mom of three, podcast host, and meal planning mentor who believes that when women are nourished — body, mind, and soul — they don’t just survive motherhood, they thrive through it. From the kitchen to the conversation table, I’m here to help you find confidence, calm, and joy in feeding yourself and your family.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a child blooming with creativity and wonder before the world said to be quieter, to not speak so often, that I was too much. Before I was told to shrink myself, I was curious and always asking questions.

I was someone who was always open to trying to learn something new. And I would do so without fear of failure.

And I lost myself briefly, when I thought I needed to stay within the box that was built around me. I’ve since found me again, but now I find myself sometimes fighting against the box that I know is no longer there but still feels like it is sometimes.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
They will tell you to dim your light. That’s when you shine brighter, my love. Know that God did not put you here to be anything else other than what he placed on the inside of you.

Trust that your message, your purpose, your light not everyone will be able to handle it or be ready for it, some will try to take advantage of it. You will learn to discern when and it doesn’t mean that you should stop shining, but just be aware and guard against those that want to use your path or purpose not for good. You will know, trust.

And when you don’t, remember that you are human and those moments aren’t failures, they are lessons.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to providing proper nutrition to mothers throughout the whole of their motherhood journey.

We spend so much time worrying about the baby’s nutrition and while that’s important, the mother’s nutrition is equally as important. We have to take care of our mothers, they are the heart of the home.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am in nature listening to the outside. The wind blowing past my ears. The birds chirping. The trees swaying. The water trickling. The sun shining on my skin.

I am most at peace when I’m not doing or thinking about the next thing to do on my list. When I just am.
