Shari Perkins shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Shari, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me looks a lot different now that I’ve transitioned into being a full-time content creator. I usually start my mornings with meditation and a workout. Doing that helps me center myself and set the tone for the day. From there, I spend most of my day creating and editing content, whether that’s filming new videos, brainstorming ideas, or managing collaborations. In the evenings, I often attend events, network, or capture behind-the-scenes moments for my platforms. My nights tend to be a bit later because that’s when I schedule posts, engage with my audience, and plan out my content calendar for the days ahead. It’s definitely busy, but it’s something I’m passionate about and truly enjoy doing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Shari, also known as @luxxshari_ a content creator, YouTuber, and all-around luxury lifestyle enthusiast. My brand really centers around attainable luxury showing that you can live well, look good, and feel your best without it having to be out of reach. I create content across fashion, fitness, beauty, wellness, travel, media, and food — basically all the things that bring me joy and help me stay balanced.
I’m a huge foodie and love exploring new restaurants and hidden gems, I’m big on wellness and staying active, and I’m always curating looks that make me feel confident and put-together. What makes my brand special is the mix of realness and aspiration. I love creating content that feels elevated, but still relatable and genuine.
Right now, I’m focused on growing my platforms, collaborating with brands that align with my lifestyle, and building a community that’s all about confidence, self-care, and soft luxury living.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I had the opportunity to travel to Italy, Greece, Turkey, and London while I was in high school. Coming from a small town in Mississippi, those trips opened my eyes to just how big and beautiful the world really is. Experiencing different cultures, food, and ways of life made me realize there’s so much more out there beyond what I was used to, and it sparked something in me.
Those travel experiences were the beginning of my love for exploration and storytelling. My mom had a digital camera that we still have over ten years later, and we used it to capture everything like the scenery, the people, the moments. Looking back, that was really the start of the creative, travel-loving, free-spirited content creator I am today. It taught me to see the world with curiosity and gratitude, and to always keep documenting life as I go.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I think I truly stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power when I launched my YouTube channel. One of my very first videos was me doing my makeup with a broken finger (a result of my ex running me over with a car). It was one of the most painful and vulnerable times in my life, but filming that video became a turning point. Instead of letting that experience silence me, I chose to show up bruised, but still standing and create something in the midst of that pain.
That moment taught me the power of resilience and authenticity. It’s what sparked my love for makeup, self-expression, and empowerment through storytelling. From that point on, YouTube became my outlet. A space where I could transform any experience into something healing and/or relatable as I connect with others who might be going through their own challenges. That’s when I realized my voice and my presence could be powerful, not just for me, but for anyone who needed a reminder that they can rise too.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
The ideas I rely on most that aren’t my own definitely come from my Christian roots and the lessons I learned growing up in church. So much of how I think, move, and make decisions is guided by biblical principles and the parables I was taught as a child and into adulthood. Stories like the Parable of the Talents and the Proverbs 31 woman have always reminded me about purpose, stewardship, compassion, and using what God gives you to bless others.
Even now, as a content creator navigating new opportunities, I still lean on those same teachings trusting that faith, humility, and gratitude will always lead me in the right direction. Those lessons shaped my foundation, and they continue to influence how I show up in my work, how I treat people, and how I handle both success and challenges with grace.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I’m working out or meditating, and especially when I’m doing yoga. Working out is my release. If I’m on the treadmill or lifting weights, it’s the one time I’m completely focused on my breath and my body instead of my problems or the outside noise. And when I do yoga, it’s such a different kind of calm. I’ve even had a couple moments after a yoga flow where I got so overwhelmed with peace that I teared up a little just realizing how grateful I am to have that space to slow down, breathe, and really be present with myself.
