Rising Stars: Meet Luca Barolli of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luca Barolli.

Luca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Parma, Italy, where food is deeply connected to family, culture, and tradition. I later moved to Atlanta and began building my career as a private chef, sharing authentic Italian cuisine through intimate dinners, cooking classes, and pasta-making experiences.
My background in Cultural Heritage Conservation also influenced my approach. I see food as a form of storytelling, so my goal is not simply to serve a meal, but to create a memorable experience that connects people through Italian culture, history, and hospitality.
Over time, my business has evolved into more immersive culinary experiences that combine food, art, storytelling, and human connection.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road. Building a business in a new country meant learning a different market, earning people’s trust, and finding the right way to communicate the value of a private dining experience.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing creativity with the practical side of running a business—pricing, marketing, scheduling, and maintaining consistency. There were also periods of uncertainty, but each challenge helped me better understand my clients and define what makes my work unique.
The journey has taught me to be adaptable, patient, and willing to keep evolving.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in private dining, cooking classes, handmade pasta, and authentic Italian cuisine. My goal is to create more than a meal—I create personal, interactive experiences that bring together food, culture, history, and storytelling.
What sets me apart is the connection I create with my guests. I involve them in the experience and share the stories behind the dishes, making each event unique and memorable.
I am most proud of building a business that truly reflects who I am: an Italian chef, storyteller, and host who brings people together through food.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Atlanta is its energy and diversity. It is a city where people from many different backgrounds come together, and that creates a strong sense of opportunity, creativity, and community. I have also found people here to be very open to new culinary experiences, which has helped me grow both personally and professionally.
What I like least is the traffic and how spread out the city can feel. Atlanta has so much to offer, but sometimes getting from one place to another can be a challenge.
