Daily Inspiration: Meet Khyra Kelley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khyra Kelley.

Hi Khyra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been singing since I was a small child, and I began singing in church at the age of 12. Music has always been one of my greatest passions and one of the ways I express myself. Growing up, I was very shy and quiet, but music gave me a voice.

As I got older, not only did my love for music grow, but my relationship with Christ deepened as well. Through that journey, I discovered a love for worship, and singing to Jesus became my favorite way to express my faith.

As God continued to shape my life, I felt called to share my testimony through music. In 2020, I wrote and released my first EP, For the Soul, as a reflection of that journey. Today, I’m still serving through worship at my church, and I’m excited to be working on my first full-length album. I hope my music encourages others, points them to Christ, and reminds them that they are never alone in their own journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been easy, but it has been incredibly worth it. Along the way, I’ve faced seasons of depression, suicidal thoughts, heartbreak, and grief. There were times when life felt very dark, but I refused to let go of hope.

Throughout every season, I continued to pray and seek the Lord. Jesus has been my rock, my source of strength, and the One who has carried me through it all. Looking back, I can honestly say that every challenge has strengthened my faith, shaped my character, and given me a testimony that I now have the privilege of sharing through my music. My prayer is that when people hear my songs, they’re reminded that no matter how dark life may seem, there is hope in Christ.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Christian singer-songwriter and worship leader. I write music that is rooted in my personal journey with Jesus Christ and inspired by the ways He has transformed my life. My heart is to create music that brings hope, healing, and encouragement to those who may be walking through difficult seasons.

I’m probably best known for my authenticity. I don’t write songs simply to create music—I write from real experiences, real prayers, and real encounters with God. Every lyric carries a piece of my testimony because I believe transparency allows God to reach people in powerful ways.

What I’m most proud of isn’t an accomplishment or a milestone; it’s seeing how God continues to use my story for His glory. From releasing my first EP, For the Soul, to serving faithfully in my local church and now working on my first full-length album, every step has been a reminder of God’s faithfulness.

What sets me apart is my desire to keep Christ at the center of everything I create. My goal has never been to simply entertain people but to lead them into an encounter with Jesus. If someone walks away from my music feeling seen, encouraged, and drawn closer to Him, then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Don’t be afraid to be your most authentic self. God created you with purpose, and He has called you to be set apart. There is no one else who can fulfill the assignment He has placed on your life the way that you can.

Embrace who God created you to be, trust the journey He has you on, and don’t be afraid to walk boldly in your calling. Your story, your gifts, and your testimony matter. The world needs what God has placed inside of you.
