Rising Stars: Meet David Carter of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Carter.

Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I would like to share the story and growth of Carter’s Creations, a catering and event planning company founded in 2019. What began as a series of successful annual Christmas parties hosted by my husband, Benjamin, and I. Ultimately inspired us to launch our official business. Combining our last name, Carter, with the concept of creating art through food and tablescapes, we established Carter’s Creations with our tagline: “We Create Memories.”

By pairing Benjamin’s passion for cooking with my culinary arts education, professional chef background, and love for decor, we offer excellent, comprehensive services. These include event planning, floral and event decor, full catering, professional waitstaff, private chef experiences, and, most recently, party rentals.

To execute our vision, we have built a talented team. Me Chef Carter as CEO. My husband, Benjamin, serves as Head Chef, overseeing the culinary department. This allows me to focus on client consultations, custom menus, business promotion, staffing, and logistics. Mrs. Ashley Jackson serves as our Creative Director, expertly bringing our decor designs to life. For larger events, we also utilize an experienced, on-call roster that includes Tristan, Destiney and Tasha.

Beyond events, Carter’s Creations is dedicated to supporting fellow entrepreneurs. We host the SIR (Support is Real) podcast to facilitate networking and relationship-building, as well as our biannual “A Seat at the Table” dinner party. Furthermore, we give back to the community through our homeless coat and sock drive, partnering with Amazon to easily accept donations from anywhere.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our business is on all major social media platforms, including Carter Creations on Facebook and Carters_Creationsatl on Instagram. However, maintaining content and attracting traffic to our pages remains a struggle as we transition from a passion to a business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
To give you a bit of background ahead of our interview, I have worked in the food service industry for over 25 years. I have been a Sous Chef for the past six years, spending the last three years at a high-end hotel chain here in Atlanta. I specialize in delivering high-quality results and am best known for my organization and strong attention to detail. If I had to pick what I am most proud of, it would be our high number of returning clients, which is a true testament to the quality of our work. When founding Carter’s Creations, my goal was to stand out from traditional catering companies. To achieve this, we offer both catering and event planning services, providing a convenient one-stop shop for all your event needs.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important gem I can share is to have everything in writing, whether big or small, and whether dealing with strangers, friends, or family. You never want to leave any room for misunderstanding or confusion regarding services rendered.
