Rising Stars: Meet Karen Davis of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Davis.

Hi Karen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography journey in 2018 working alongside arena football teams in the Atlanta area. I eventually branched out and began shooting semi pro football, some youth football, the occasional flag tournament, roller derby, and some personal photos here and there. I eventually took a hiatus to work on my health. I returned behind the camera in 2025 taking pictures of motorcycles on the twists and turns of mountain runs. It’s always the action pictures that I have loved and lived for.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Picking up a new hobby, passion, interest, job or endeavor of any kind in life is always going to have its challenges. Nothing is ever smooth sailing. My first year doing photography I had to branch out and really network to meet people. Social media was a big part of that when it came to the football teams in arena and semi pro that I worked with. I faced a minor health setback during our season, but overcame that in time to make our championship game. Photography is also something that I do on the side while working a full time job. Therefore I was always traveling, having to juggle schedules, and sometimes it required missing out on a lot of things.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer that loves mostly the action flicks. Anything fast paced such as sports, cars, and motorcycles. Catching the occasional wedding or personal photos for someone is never out of the question. I think the fact that I like shooting the action pictures is what sets me apart from some photographers.

How do you define success?
I think success is something that you have to work hard and strive for. It doesn’t happen overnight. There will always be obstacles along the way, but you cannot let those things stop you if it is something that you truly want or want to achieve.
