We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has never been a smooth road. Throughout my life, I have experienced moments when I believed everything was in place and under control, only to face unexpected challenges that reminded me there was still room for growth. Like many people, I have experienced childhood trauma and personal hardships that have shaped who I am today. While I choose not to go into every detail, those experiences have played a significant role in my development and my pursuit of a better life.
My journey has taken me through different stages, from playing sports to experiencing life in the streets and eventually discovering my path in music. Transitioning from Chicago, Illinois, to Atlanta in 2014 introduced me to new cultures, environments, and ways of life. Adjusting to a different city and building my place within the music industry presented its own challenges, but each experience taught me valuable lessons and strengthened my ability to adapt.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with numerous talented and established individuals in the music industry. Looking back, I recognize that my growth extends far beyond developing my skills as a producer or engineer. True growth comes from becoming a better person, learning from life’s experiences, and developing the character to move forward with purpose.
My advice to the younger generation of engineers, producers, and aspiring artists is simple: stay focused, remain teachable, and learn from everything you experience. Life will continue to present obstacles, but perseverance, discipline, and a commitment to personal growth can help you move through them. Stay connected to your purpose, surround yourself with positive influences, and remain grounded in your faith in God. By pursuing excellence, maintaining integrity, and continuing to move forward, you can create a meaningful future for yourself and make a positive impact on others
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
DJ Streets: A Journey of Resilience, Music, and Unwavering Ambition
Known for his contributions to the music industry and his dedication to the culture, Streets is an Atlanta-based music producer and engineer originally from Chicago, Illinois, with 15 years of industry experience. His passion for music, production, and engineering has allowed him to collaborate with artists and industry professionals from Chicago to Atlanta and beyond.
His passion for music was deeply influenced by his older brother, THAIONE Davis, who played a significant role in shaping Streets’ early appreciation for hip-hop and creative expression. Growing up, watching his brother pursue music inspired Streets to develop his own artistic identity and cultivate a lasting commitment to the craft.
Driven by resilience, ambition, and a desire to create a better future for himself and his family, Streets made the decision to relocate to Atlanta in 2014. The transition presented new challenges, including adapting to a different environment, culture, and music scene. Rather than allowing those obstacles to discourage him, he embraced the opportunity to build his own path and establish himself within the industry.
Since arriving in Atlanta, Streets has dedicated himself to developing his skills and building relationships throughout the city’s music community. He has worked in and collaborated with professionals across various studios, including PatchWerk Studios, Loud House Studios, 442 Studios, Vision Studios, and Cook Up Studios. He is currently working at I”ITZ THE Call Center” Studios in East Point, Georgia, owned by Sabu Devine.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Favorite Childhood Memory
My greatest childhood memories are rooted in family, togetherness, and the simple joys of growing up. I cherish the moments spent at family gatherings with my grandparents, parents, brothers, and sisters, especially during a time when everyone was still together. Those days were filled with laughter, happiness, and a sense of freedom—running around without a care in the world, playing sports, and enjoying the company of the people I loved most. Being surrounded by my family, sharing those unforgettable moments under one roof, represents some of the most meaningful memories of my life. Looking back, I realize that those moments of love, unity, and genuine happiness were truly priceless.
