Life & Work with RayeAsia Bovian of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to RayeAsia Bovian.

Hi RayeAsia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey in fashion and design is deeply rooted in the vibrant, high-energy culture of Miami. Growing up surrounded by the iconic aesthetic of South Beach, Ocean Drive, and the luxury of Star Island, style was more than just clothing to me—it was a lifestyle and an art form.

My foundation in the industry started early. After attending Barbizon Modeling School, I took my passion directly into my school community, founding a modeling club at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High and actively participating in Viking Vogue at Miami Norland Senior High. As my classmates and friends began pursuing their dreams in the music industry, they turned to me to style them and design their custom stage outfits.

Coupling my raw ambition with Miami’s rich, glamorous backdrops, those early years of styling and creating on set laid the groundwork for my career. What began as a passionate drive to dress visionaries evolved into establishing Lauris Couture, taking that unmistakable Miami luxury energy and scaling it onto global runways.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely not a smooth road. In the beginning, there was a massive mismatch between the scale of my vision and the size of my pockets.

When you have luxury-level concepts and global ambition, but limited capital, every step requires extraordinary creativity, grit, and strategy. I didn’t have the luxury of endless funding, so I had to leverage sheer resourcefulness, hands-on determination, and an unwavering belief in my work.

Somehow, I always found a way to get it done. Overcoming that financial friction forced me to master the business side of my craft, build deep resilience, and refine my vision so that when the momentum built, the foundation was solid enough to hold it. Looking back, those early struggles weren’t roadblocks—they were the exact pressure that forged my strength as a creator and founder.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Winning Luxury Designer of the Year is one of my proudest moments. What made it so special was that I didn’t even know I had been nominated in two categories—let alone that I would walk away winning one. To realize in that moment that people were truly watching, recognizing, and valuing my work behind the scenes was deeply validating.

Above all, I am most proud that I did not quit. Through every hurdle, resource constraint, and late night, staying the course was a victory in itself.

What sets my work apart is the seamless fusion of high-level executive structure and unapologetic, vibrant luxury. Born out of Miami’s iconic aesthetic, my designs don’t just dress a person—they project power, elevation, and presence. Every piece is crafted with intention, merging bespoke artistry with a clear, unshakeable standard of excellence.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
To be completely honest, my path didn’t include a traditional mentor. Coming up, there wasn’t someone in my corner guiding my steps, so I had to become my own classroom. I spent hours studying television, magazines, high-fashion editorials, and real-world execution. I paid close attention to how established leaders moved, spoke, and presented their work, using observation as my teacher.

Because of that, my best advice for networking and growth isn’t about chasing business cards or hunting for a mentor—it’s about becoming a master observer and remaining deeply authentic.

Study the Greats: You don’t always need a direct phone call with someone to learn from them. Study the blueprints of people who are where you want to be.

Let Your Work Be Your Intro: Focus on building your craft to a level of excellence that speaks before you do. When your standard is high, the right networks naturally find you.

Be Your Own First Believer: If no one is there to hold the door open for you, hold it open for yourself. Trust your internal guidance, stay observant, and keep moving forward regardless of who is in the room.
