Today we’d like to introduce you to Atlanta Hispanic Yoga Festival.

Hi Atlanta Hispanic, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
What began as a simple idea has blossomed into something much greater. Today, the Atlanta Hispanic Yoga Festival represents a growing network of passionate teachers. A living movement filled with intention, love, and purpose. We are a community united by the belief that wellness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of language, culture, or income level.

It all started with a single yoga class. A unique, profound class taught in Spanish. The teacher’s words, warm and familiar, resonated deeply with everyone in the room. It was more than a moment of movement; it was a reconnection with roots, with culture, with identity. In that space, a vision was born: to share this experience with the entire Hispanic community.

That vision became a reality with the creation of the first Hispanic Yoga Festival in Atlanta. A pioneering event that marked a before and after. On the day of the festival, the Hispanic community showed up with enthusiasm, love, and openness, making one thing very clear: the community was ready for more. Ready for spaces where wellness feels like home, where language is not a barrier, and where every person can connect with their body, their mind, and their culture.

​Since then, the festival has grown thanks to the energy, passion, and support of hundreds of people and our sponsors who believe in one shared purpose: transforming wellness into a right, not a privilege.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road, and we would not want it to be any other way. Every challenge has taught us something we needed to learn to build this movement.

When we first had the idea for the festival, we were creating something that did not exist yet. There was no blueprint for a bilingual, culturally rooted yoga festival built specifically for the Hispanic community in Atlanta. We had to build the trust first, one class, one conversation, one relationship at a time, before we could build the event.

Funding is one of our biggest challenges. Finding sponsors and partners who want to invest in something new, led by a small and passionate team, takes persistence and a lot of heart. We have always been resourceful, leaning on in kind support and building partnerships based on shared values. We are so grateful to lululemon for the support they have shown us since our inaugural festival last year. They are truly special people who care deeply and share in our mission.

As a Latina led organization, we educate on why this work matters, why language matters, why culture matters in wellness spaces that have not always made room for our community. We keep showing up, because we know what this festival means for the people who see themselves reflected in it.

And of course, growth itself brings its own obstacles. What started as one class has become a full festival with vendors, sponsors, partners, speakers, volunteers and hundreds of attendees, and with that growth comes more logistics, more moving parts, and more responsibility to get it right for our community.

Through all of it, what has carried us forward is the same thing that started this movement in the first place: the belief that our community deserves spaces where they feel seen, heard, and supported. Every obstacle has only reaffirmed why this work matters.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is that we do not simply translate wellness for our people, we build it with our people, from the ground up. Every connection is genuine. We stay for a conversation after class and we say yes to sharing a meal together, because we are community.

Alongside our festival programming, we bring health services and education, because for us, wellness is not just physical movement, it is access to care everyone deserves. We are able to do this thanks to the doctors who join us as speakers and our partners at the Latin American Association, the Latino Community Fund, Walgreens, and new this year, Grady Hospital.

We are most proud of the trust we have built. Our inaugural festival sold out, and that told us everything we needed to know: our community was ready and waiting for a space like this. We have grown into a network of passionate leaders.

We cannot let the moment pass to celebrate our most recent event, El Viaje at The Fox Theatre. It was a magical day in a very special place, and we are incredibly grateful for the partnership we created with them and the honor of bringing that experience to our community.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What people may not know is that behind every class, every event, and every festival moment, there is a team of teachers who come from all across Latin America, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Each of us carries a deep connection to our home country and our culture, and we bring that uniqueness into everything we teach.

We are not just colleagues, we are a family. We gather together, we cook for each other, we dance together, and above all, we share a genuine love for serving our community. Our team spans a wide range of ages, which means we carry generations of wisdom, energy, and perspective within the same circle.

That is the secret recipe behind our teacher team. It is not something you can plan or replicate, it is the result of real culture, real connection, and real love for what we do, coming together in one place.
