Community Highlights: Meet Christopher Roblész of Math N’ More

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Roblész.

Hi Christopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in education began in 2009 in New York City, starting out as a math interventionist. Early on, I saw firsthand how much students, especially minority scholars, those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and students with special needs, were being left behind in traditional math instruction. Math anxiety is real, and for many kids, hitting a wall in math turns into a wall in their overall academic confidence.

Over the years, as I transitioned into roles like Network Math Specialist, Special Education Director, and School Administrator across the East Coast, my mission remained simple: demystify math and make high-level learning accessible. I went on to pursue my Doctorate in Education from the University of Miami, focusing my research on Applied Learning Sciences and Metacognition in Secondary Mathematics, essentially studying how students learn how to learn.

In 2020, as the pandemic widened educational inequities overnight, I founded Math N’ More alongside our 501(c)(3) non-profit arm, the Math N’ More Foundation, Inc. I wanted to build more than just another tutoring service; I wanted to create an educational ecosystem. We combine targeted math intervention with mentorship, using expert educators to build metacognitive skills; teaching scholars how to think through problems so that confidence stays with them for life.

That mission has propelled us into one of the most transformative periods in our history. The 2025–2026 program year marked record-breaking growth for Math N’ More:

⁕ Unprecedented Summer Academy Growth: We achieved a 196% increase in enrollment for Summer Academy 2026, serving 154 K–10 scholars across two new host locations (Inspiredu Atlanta and Agnes Scott College) complete with STEAM enrichment, field trips, sports, daily meals, and hands-on learning.

⁕ Impactful Community Events: We hosted our largest Pi Day celebration to date with over 400 registrations, bringing math to life through interactive STEAM stations, robotics, virtual reality, a 360 Roller Cart experience, and community partner exhibits.

⁕ Expanded Extended Day Partnerships: We’ve expanded our Extended Day programming at The Anchor School (serving 44 scholars and increasing from 3 to 5 days per week for 2026–2027) while announcing two new signature initiatives: Homework Café and targeted Math Intervention. We’ve also launched a new partnership with the Academy for Innovation and Medicine (AIM).

⁕ Institutional Support & Growth: We were proud to receive the prestigious STEM Action Grant for the third consecutive year, expand our instructional team, and build crucial partnerships with incredible collaborators like the John & JeJuan Stewart Jr. Foundation, Hands On Atlanta, City of Atlanta Parks & Recreation, AFCRA, NBA Hoops | Learn Fresh, and Inspiredu Atlanta.

Whether it’s connecting scholars with industry professionals during Career Day or providing hands-on project-based learning, our focus remains on growing minds, building confidence, and creating opportunities. As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we are excited to keep scaling our reach across Atlanta, ensuring every scholar knows they belong in the world of STEM.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth, linear road, but the struggles along the way have shaped everything Math N’ More is today.

When we launched in 2020 at the height of the global pandemic, we weren’t just launching a business; we were stepping directly onto the front lines of an educational crisis. We had to immediately navigate the digital divide, acute learning loss, and widespread math anxiety that hit minority, economically disadvantaged, and special education scholars the hardest. Trying to build trust, maintain scholar engagement, and secure resources during such a chaotic time required incredible agility, deep empathy, and tireless work.

Beyond the pandemic, a continuous challenge in the educational non-profit space is scale and sustainability. Deeply impactful work, like maintaining low student-to-educator ratios, providing daily hot meals, hosting massive community events, and taking scholars on educational field trips, requires significant resources. In the early days, ensuring we could provide top-tier services to families at little to no cost meant constantly advocating for funding and knocking on doors to build community trust.

Growing rapidly also brings its own operational hurdles. For example, between Summer 2025 and Summer 2026, our Summer Academy enrollment grew by 196%, jumping from 52 to 154 scholars. Managing that scale meant rapidly expanding across new campus locations like Agnes Scott College and Inspiredu Atlanta, continuously recruiting and hiring high-quality licensed educators, and scaling our operational logistics overnight.

Every challenge pushed us to build stronger systems. Securing support like the STEAM Action Grant for three consecutive years and forging deep community partnerships, with organizations like the John & JeJuan Stewart Jr. Foundation, Hands On Atlanta, and local Atlanta schools, proved that when you stay grounded in community impact, the road gets built as you walk it.

Math N’ More (and our 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, the Math N’ More Foundation, Inc.) is an educational ecosystem dedicated to demystifying mathematics, closing equity gaps, and building lifelong academic confidence. Founded on the belief that every child can excel in math given the right tools and mindset, we specialize in high-impact tutoring, targeted math intervention, metacognitive skill development, and experiential STEAM programming for K–12 scholars, with a deep focus on serving minority, economically disadvantaged, and special education (IEP/504) students.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along this journey is that confidence, not capability, is the ultimate gatekeeper of learning. When scholars struggle with math, it’s rarely because they lack intelligence or potential, it’s because a single bad experience, a missed foundational concept, or systemic barriers created a deep-seated belief that they ‘just aren’t a math person.’ Once that wall goes up, every equation looks like a threat instead of a puzzle.

Building Math N’ More, and watching it scale from a pandemic-era intervention effort to serving hundreds of scholars across Atlanta, taught me that you cannot fix academic achievement until you first repair a student’s relationship with learning. To do that effectively, I’ve learned three major truths along the way:

⁕ Metacognition Over Memorization: Teaching kids how to think through a problem, and giving them permission to be wrong while figuring it out, builds resilience. When a student understands their own cognitive process, math transforms from a source of anxiety into an empowering tool for real-world problem-solving.

⁕ Community is Key to Scaling Impact: True equity in education cannot be achieved in isolation. Expanding our programs, like scaling our Summer Academy by 196% or growing our Extended Day partnerships with sites like The Anchor School and AIM, has only been possible because of deeply engaged families, dedicated educators, and visionary collaborators like the John & JeJuan Stewart Jr. Foundation, Hands On Atlanta, Agnes Scott College, and Inspiredu Atlanta.

⁕ Joy Belongs in Mathematics: Math doesn’t have to be clinical or intimidating. When you bring 400+ family members together for Pi Day to launch VR experiences, build robotics, and engage in hands-on STEM challenges, you strip away the fear and replace it with curiosity.
