Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda McIver.
Hi Linda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My mother died from cancer when I was 16. I’ve known from a young age I wanted to devote my life to health and wellness. I was trained conventionally as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and in 2012, I opened my first practice, 2UMedical, a concierge medical practice and conceptually, my take on the old fashioned housecall.
Later, at age 48, I completed my functional medicine fellowship through the Academy of Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine (A4M). When I turned 50, I decided to follow my passion – Longevity – this led to my new concept ÂgeBlu, Ageless Living. I want to help my patients, friends, and family members live their very best lives for as long as possible. Longevity is more than a trend for me. It is reflective of a passion that began long ago.
My focus is on living well and living long. Life is a gift to embrace, optimize, and protect.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an evolution. I won’t pretend that we haven’t had our growing pains. Building something new in healthcare means we’re constantly adapting to new research, new regulations, and new expectations from patients who are more informed than ever –– which is a good thing. A knowledgeable patient is a powerful partner in their own care.
For ÂgeBlu, I believe the challenging moments put us on our path. They force us to become clear about who we are and what we’re here to serve. Anyone in healthcare has had to adapt to so much in the last decade. What carries me through it, is my team. They are absolute rockstars, and everyone is hand selected. I’m endlessly grateful for them and so are our patients. I’m fortunate to have very low turnover. It’s important to me that my team enjoys what they do and that they love coming to work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in functional medicine. Our method centers on a longevity-focused approach that combines the best of traditional medicine with preventative care, as well as cutting edge wellness therapies.
No one can guarantee the length of anyone’s lifespan. But there’s a lot you can do to increase the length of your healthspan, which refers to the number of years you live free from disease.
What sets us apart is my Four Principles of Longevity: Detox, Boost, Support, and Enhance. Everything at ÂgeBlu operates under this framework; every modality that we offer is directed by these principles.
Detox comes first, and it’s ongoing. We’re exposed to more environmental toxins in modern life than ever before, and clearing that load is foundational and continuous.
Boost looks at energy, mood, and immunity. These are the things that determine how you feel day to day. Inflammation is an immune response, and this principle guides us in addressing chronic inflammation.
Support is where we look at your body’s systems and build infrastructure with integrity: a healthy gut, strong muscles and bones, a balanced endocrine system (hormones), and more.
Enhance is where our most cutting-edge modalities and highly individualized medical technology live. Once your body’s systems are optimized, we ask: how do we push one step further? Heading toward real and sustainable performance, and helping our patients stay at the top of their game for as long as they want to be there.
Our philosophy is designed to understand the complexity and individuality of your body and your life. At the most basic level, inflammation and stress –– both physical and mental –– drive aging. However, every person’s biology is unique. What reduces inflammation and stress will look different for everyone. That’s why we go beyond simple diagnostics and symptom management, and address the root cause, to look at the full picture.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I love this question. The longevity, health, and wellness industry has already grown exponentially in the last decade, and I don’t see that slowing down. Medicine is shifting in a preventative direction, and we’re living through a moment where science and technology are evolving faster than most people realize. I find that incredibly exciting.
One area of emerging research I’m especially drawn to is Cold Atmospheric Plasma, or CAP. The research is still early, but it’s a space that shows real promise. We have a CAP wellness device in our office called the Human Regenerator. It uses low-temperature plasma technology that’s been used in European wellness centers for years, and we’re proud to be among the first in the U.S. to offer it.
I also think the GLP-1 landscape is going to keep reshaping this industry. What started as a conversation about weight loss is expanding into a much broader conversation about metabolic health, inflammation, and even cognitive protection.
I think we’re only seeing the early chapters of these stories, and the next decade we’ll see more of this kind of cross-pollination, where medicine and technology developed for other purposes, abroad, or in adjacent fields, find a second life in longevity medicine.
That said, there are real hurdles ahead. Climate change and its effects on the human body like increased inflammatory load and shifting disease patterns, is one I think about often. Regulation is another. Science is moving quickly, and I think our field will need to work hard to keep the research, the oversight, and the public conversation moving at the same pace, so patients can trust what’s real versus what’s trending.
Accessibility is also a hurdle for our field as a whole. A lot of what’s most promising in longevity medicine right now is still expensive and concentrated in a handful of cities and practices. I’d love to see the industry find ways to bring the principles of this work — extensive testing, earlier screening, nutrient optimization — to more people, even before the most advanced therapies catch up in cost and availability.
Ten years from now, my hope is that we’ve made real progress on prevention at a societal level. I hope the conversation around aging has shifted too, from something to fear, to something we can approach with curiosity and intention.
