Community Highlights: Meet Randle Ross of Atlanta Water Gardens, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randle Ross.

Hi Randle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Atlanta Water Gardens was the brainchild of Dr. Phillip Wison, along with 3 other partners. AWG opened its’ doors Nov 1996. The business was a major success from the start. No other type business was in Atlanta like AWG. AWG is a full service business, anywhere from a retail store, selling fountains, garden statues, birdbaths, benches, and most things associate with outdoor water gardening. Also, fish, aquatic plants and all type of pond supplies. This was the beginning of 30 years of a major successful business.

I came along Feb. 1999 from Memphis, TN, as a former environmental chemist. Started was a store manager, buying into the business a few years later. Two of the partners were bought out, our founder Dr. Phillip Wison past away. This left Kelly Keylon and myself as co-owners. Kelly runs the retail part of the business and I run all the outside business.

We started a design/maintenance division, which has exploded also. I am in charge of this, which we do pond maintenance and koi/water gardens designs and construction. Our pond maintenance includes monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, bi yearly and yearly pond contracts. At times there is more work than we can handle. I have designed and constructed a number of ponds throughout Atlanta and the metro area. Note- I was asked to design and construct an indoor pond for Pepsico Co. for the 2019 Superbowl in Atlanta. This was a great success.

As in all businesses we have rode the economy good and bad. We were very successful knowing where to rein in the business and when to expand. We owe all our success to the many loyal customers, some being with us from the beginning. We are also, welcoming new customers daily.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The economy has been the biggest issue.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Atlanta Water Gardens, Inc.?
