Conversations with Alice Bunny

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Bunny.

Hi Alice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started back on May 2nd 2024. I traveled to Chicago to see a family friend and famous Dark Caberet musician Aurelio Voltaire who was touring with our good friend Dusty “Goth Dad” Gannon formally from Vision Video.

After the show me and Voltaire started talking about seeing eachother on the next tour so then I asked “Would you like help getting back into Wisconsin next year?”
Voltaire said “Yes, I don’t mind do as you please!” That was my spark to #bringaureliovoltairebacktomilwaukee so I went to work on my art account known as @alicebluegothbunny (which I had used for nearly a decade before @goth.daughter.alice became an account or name people know me for.

After a change.org petition under #bringaureliovoltairebacktomilwaukee got 50 signatures, 13 months of balancing college, work, and tasks in NSLS (National Society of Leadership and Success), and making posters to put online and around my city I had made it a reality! We settled on The Crucible located in Madison, WI after so many attempts to reach out to venues from all over Wisconsin.

It took a lot of work, emotion, frustration, and balance to obtain it but I had came forth to Voltaire himself on why. I did all of it for him because Voltaire saved my life and has kept in touch with my family so my thanks to him was helping him make his foot back in Wisconsin after nearly 10 years of waiting for other fans such as myself to see him.

As of today I had been doing other small events and made the account @goth.daughter.alice which is where I post about shows I’m supporting or sometimes I volunteer in my local scene with a group called Goth Barge which is a collective of djays and locals who do boat parties and events within our clubs. We collaborated with Dusty “Goth Dad” Gannon for the Adepticon 2026 afterparty Goth Dad’s Grimdark Sidequest and I had also been jumping with smaller bands to help promote their merch like The Maiden Voyage from Franklin WI and UltrafiendX from Sacramento CA.

When I’m not promoting bands I make fanart on my art account @alicebluegothbunny and talk a lot about mental health and how to support other small bands.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge of #bringaureliovoltairebacktomilwaukee was trying to find the venues and the people.

I say this because to many big venues and to a lot of people they only saw me as a fan and only that.

I had in total contacted nearly 20 venues but we had no luck we were fortunate that Greg Kveberg from The Crucible gave me and Voltaire both the time of day to make it a reality.

My other struggle was also finding connections to help. I contacted the groups I was suggested or had already been in for help but did not get a lot of traction either but me being a creative I knew I had my ways.

By the end I’m learning more as I go but had been doing better in terms of building connection.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I call myself a creative. I say this because I don’t know how I would describe myself otherwise.

I specialize in digital art, taking photos of wearable pieces I’ve worked on and writing about my concert experiences. I commonly write about my concert experiences and do digital art.

The reason I do digital art is because it helps me air out emotions as I was taught in art therapy and love doing art. I also blend musicians into my art pieces to represent their roles in my life and who came out of what part of my life I found them in.

My concert experiences are what people learn from me about musicians sometimes. Some people love that I write about them and find it really cool how much they see my support for them. Others are surprised by how many people I know despite only being 21 years old and being surrounded by this many people. Out of everything #bringaureliovoltairebacktomilwaukee is now what people know me for because of my “Goth Daughter” tag from Aurelio Voltaire’s nickname “Goth Father”.

I’m really proud of how far I made it. If 14 year old me would have seen me today she would be shocked that the random musician she looked up to online now is backing her and has been both an artistic and emotional supporting role in her life. I thank Voltaire for that and I’m honored by the jumpstart he gave me.

What sets me apart the most is my build-up. I was a teenager when I met Voltaire for the first time and he kept in touch with my family after the first meeting. I did not think those 2 and a half hours with Voltaire himself would later evolve into “Goth Daughter”. People found it shocking that it happened that way but my dad wanted to help me go see him. The reason I had wanted to see Voltaire back then because I was a fan who admired his dark macabre work and had dreamed after that one day I would do something for him like others before me had. I did do a little more than some but it was worth every last minute.

What are your plans for the future?
For the future I want to focus more on trying to connect with smaller bands and help them as many have helped me.

I’m looking forward to making new connections with new people.

Major changes had been I had been in a couple of collaboration posts with The Maiden Voyage and Haunter (both local Wisconsin bands) in terms of concert photos and footage from the recent run of Summerfest.

I’m preparing for big things ahead of me. New people, new bands, new shows and most importantly new friends.

I hope in the future I can make this a job of its own. It has brought me so much joy to do it.
