Today we’d like to introduce you to Emani Watson.
Hi Emani, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey has never been a straight line, and I think that is what has shaped me the most. While my professional background is rooted in business operations, project coordination, and organizational strategy, I have always had a passion for movement, wellness, and bringing people together. That combination inspired me to create Mani Moves Collective, a brand focused on building community through fitness, meaningful experiences, and intentional connection. What started as teaching group fitness classes has grown into creating spaces where people feel encouraged to show up for themselves, both physically and mentally. Behind the scenes, I enjoy developing the systems, partnerships, and experiences that help ideas come to life just as much as I enjoy leading a class. Whether I am working with clients, coordinating projects, or coaching from the front of the room, my goal is to make a lasting impact through connection, organization, and service. I am still growing, but every opportunity continues to reinforce that I do my best work when I can combine business, wellness, and community in a meaningful way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but honestly, I wouldn’t expect it to be. Building Mani Moves Collective has come with a lot of learning, trial and error, and figuring things out as I go. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing entrepreneurship while still working other jobs to support myself. There have been times when I’ve had to clock out of one job and go teach a class, plan an event, create content, answer emails, and do all the behind-the-scenes work that people don’t always see. I’ve also had classes that weren’t as full as I hoped or opportunities that didn’t work out, and those moments can be discouraging. But instead of giving up, I’ve used them as motivation to keep improving. Every setback has taught me something, and each small win reminds me why I started. At the end of the day, I genuinely love creating spaces where people can move, build confidence, and have fun, so that purpose has kept me going even when the journey wasn’t easy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the founder of the Mani Moves Collective, a wellness brand centered around movement, community, and confidence. While dance fitness is at the heart of what I do, my goal has always been bigger than just helping people work out. I create experiences where people can show up exactly as they are, have fun, build confidence, and prioritize their health without feeling intimidated. Whether it’s Rhythm FIIT, personal training, wellness events, or community classes, I want people to leave feeling stronger physically and mentally than when they walked in. What I’m most proud of is seeing complete strangers become a community and watching people who once doubted themselves grow more confident with every class. I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely lead with authenticity. I’m not trying to fit into the typical fitness mold. I want fitness to feel accessible, joyful, and empowering for everybody, no matter their experience level. My mission is to remind people that movement should be something you look forward to, not something you dread.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Atlanta is the sense of community and opportunity. It’s a city full of creatives, entrepreneurs, and people who genuinely support each other’s dreams. As well as free resources if you’re in the Atlanta Metro. There’s always something happening, from fitness events and festivals to networking opportunities. It feels like if you’re willing to put yourself out there, you can find your tribe. Atlanta has really given me the space to grow both personally and professionally.
If I had to pick one thing I like least, it would definitely be the traffic. I think everyone can agree that getting somewhere 15 miles away can somehow turn into an hour-long or so drive. As someone who teaches classes and attends events all over the city, I’ve become very familiar with planning my day around traffic. It’s just part of the Atlanta experience at this point.
