Conversations with Joshua Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Coleman.

Hi Joshua, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got started in photography back in 2020 when my older brother, who’s also a photographer, gave me his old Canon Rebel T5 camera. For the last six years, I’ve been improving my skills as both a photographer and a videographer through personal projects, client work, and Georgia State’s film and media program.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been easy; a lot of the challenge in being a photographer for me has been finding motivation to continue down this path, given how hard it can be to find work as an artist, dealing with feelings of imposter syndrome, and struggles in my personal life

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So, I’m mainly known for my behind-the-scenes photography for events, movies, and artists. The work I’m most proud of is my short documentary “Music and Community”
which follows two college musicians as they discuss the importance of being around fellow artists on their own journeys. The thing that sets me apart is my unique style of candid photography and action cinematography.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the trend of more and more people getting into photography as a hobby or career is going to continue to rise in the next 5-10 years
