Conversations with Kolor The Rapper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kolor The Rapper.

Hi Kolor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I honestly got my start on my dad’s hip, being held in the studio as he was making music. I remember falling in love with the vibrations of the base and wanting to hit the mic and share my story. I love that music is a way to experience the past, present and future.
When I was younger I wanted to be so many things but, the one thing that always followed me was my music prowess and capabilities. I loved doing talents shows at my schools and when I got older, amongst my local community. I was able to hone on my skills with communicating with the the crowd, and a balance between what I want as an artists and what my audience wants from me. Today I’m excited to say that I am a notable figure in my community and get paid for my art and contributions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t, choosing to engage in the entertainment industry is no child’s play. You really have to be passionate about what it is that you do because, for the first season you may not see much, or feel really good about where you are. From failed investments, to scams, the journey definitely comes with it’s ups and down but goal is to be consistent and believe in the potential of what your artistry can do

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a musician, and live entertainer. I specialize in music and the production there of, I play instruments and I even do drag. I really love expressing my art through different mediums so there’s no telling you might see me doing. What sets me apart is my ability to embody the duality of masculine and feminine energy. I really love shapeshifting and commanding the stage any way I see fit it really makes my shows fun and dynamic

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Over the years I’ve really been able to build a team. We’re small but strong! Some honorable mentions for sure are my close friends! From creative directing to tailoring my outfit I have a sister for everything! And huge thank you to pressure k and Whitley! There has been such a strong level of commitment to bringing my ideas to fruition that I’m deeply grateful for.
