Daily Inspiration: Meet George McDonald

Today we’d like to introduce you to George McDonald.

Hi George, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in radio 26 years ago while in college at Morris Brown College. I got an internship at V-103/WAOK and ended up getting hired. Since then I’ve worked around the state finally settling at Davis Broadcasting’s K92.7 FM. I’ve also been a songwriter and filmmaker during this time, working with artists like Angie Stone and Ruben Studdard to name a few.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many obstacles along the way. Most recently i lost my mother, step father and went through a divorce, all things that could derail you if you are not focused

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a radio personality and proud of it! Having been in radio for 26 years has allowed me to build relationships and a name and reputation that earns respect. I have a “New Music Monday” segment that is very popular both around that state and the country. I have had artists from all over in my show. The thing that sets me apart from other radio personalities is that I am an artist myself and a true fan of music!i chose radio as a career because I love music and wanted to be close to it!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The thing I like the most about the city is the access you have. Everyone comes here and they are accessible. The thing I like the least is that everybody is moving here and making it congested. Lol
