Daily Inspiration: Meet Manami Lingerfelt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manami Lingerfelt.

Hi Manami, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I was born and raised in Japan, graduating from Tokyo Musashino Art College in 1985. I began my art career in Tokyo, Japan as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator.
​ I left Japan to travel across the globe for 10 years (1985-1995), then back to Japan for 7 years, teaching arts and crafts. I moved to Kennesaw, GA I found myself living in a battered woman’s shelter, I had become divorced shortly after marriage. After staying with the YWCA, making art was my only way to pull in some type of income. I was always moved by my passion to create art by painting nonstop. all day and all night, with a mission to make the world a more beautiful place. My work is inspired by the mystical aspects of the places i have visited, The human condition itself, and of the natural world. I began participating in local art shows around the metro Atlanta area, In 2015, I obtained BFA(Bachelor’s Fine Art) at Kennesaw State University.
I was later granted the opportunity to complete a mural for the 4th largest Super Kroger in the USA located in Cartersville GA. A mural along the sidewalk or the Historic Friendship Plaza at downtown Cartersville, GA. She also completed a mural in the Phycology Department (Nelson Building) at West Georgia University.
I now call Dallas, GA my home, where I continues to work as a full time artist, with my husband Tommy, that has supported me every step of the way, Together as a team we continue to participate in numerous art shows, throughout the southeast states of America. I have been featured artist at 2014 Yellow Daisy Festival, 2016 Norcross Art Festival, 2017 Acworth Art Festival, 2010 Brookhaven Art Festival, Ist place in Chiaha Harvest festival 2nd place Suwanee Art Festival 2026, Exhibiting now at the gallery in Autrium Medical Floyd, Rome, GA and Sky land Gallery Macon, GA .
I do art shows and festival around GA and I am going to the Tomato art festival in Nashville, TN this August. then Piedmont Park art festival, Atlanta, GA this August as well. I still continues my mission to provide colorful mystical imaginations, to help make the world become a more beautiful place.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road through the art world is a challenging road to travel. As an artist, many if not all, start small. When I first begin doing art shows. I had just a few paintings and very little inventory and storms would come and make everything wet, but I eventually was able to buy a more durable tent with more paintings and better and more inventory. So things become smoother with experience and the right tools.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I paint images that develop in my mind as I paint with oil paints. Since I was asked to display my art in a hospital in Rome, GA. I feel my art is known for making people smile and wonder the meaning of my paintings with their own creative words. I was asked to do a mural in Kroger Super Center and Downtown Catersville. GA. Then my work is known to make areas where families and friends gather, a more whimsical and magical moment. The only thing I feel sets me apart from some others, is that I meditate and do yoga with my routine of exercise. I pray and keep focus, always, on a way to make my art better and try new things and meet new people in new places and try to grow a bigger audience.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
With doing Art as a career. The computer is a tool to use Photoshop to edit photos of my paintings before printing, on my Epson giclee’ printer. I use social media apps, such as, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads to showcase new paintings and advertise for up coming shows. There are a variety of podcast that I listen to, it all depends on the topic and what matches the mood. I have a small prayer book that keeps me reminded to stay grateful and think positive.
