Daily Inspiration: Meet Ulyssianah Mccarter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ulyssianah Mccarter

Hi Ulyssianah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up I have always had a strong passion for the arts. I knew that my hunger to express myself through the arts need to be fed and cultivated in order to grow as a better dancer, and actress. Eager to find classes to learn more about the art of dance and strengthen my technique, I began to travel to Atlanta from North Carolina to train with the best choreographers in the industry. While networking in Atlanta and growing as a dancer I was given the opportunity to join a mentorship program, “Love N Artistry “ , that specialized in growing new dancers in the industry and enhancing their talents. This program allowed for me to learn the behind the scene business of the dance industry and how to brand myself as a professional dancer. Growing as a dancer became my priority, but I refused to allow my first love for acting to be neglected. I knew I wanted to be a professional dancer, but I also had a hunger for acting and the strengthening my presence in front of the camera. While taking dance classes, I was offered an opportunity to began training for acting and I knew this would be the start of fulfilling my other passions. In 2022, I got signed on by a talent agency in North Carolina called “A-list Models and Talent”. Being represented by an agency allowed for me to begin growing as an actor and get casted for rolls in well known films. Initially, I was casted as an extra to be in a film called “Waiting on the Brooklyn Bridge” as a student going to prom and in another film called “Palm Sunday” as a member in a church congregation.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road but I didn’t complain, I got up everyday and did what made me happy. A few struggles along the way for me were understanding that I couldn’t allow being new and overlooked in the professional industry stop me from showcasing my talents.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an aspiring professional dancer, actress and entrepreneur. I am most known for using my body as a form of expression whether it be for dancing or acting. My energy and vibe when I dance teaches women how to be confident and show their strength using their bodies. I specialize in hip-hop dancing, twerk fitness, and sensual heel dancing. As a multifaceted person in the arts, I am most proud of my ability to adapt, and learn in both the acting and dancing Industry. I find that it is most important to be creative and connect with other creators to grow as an individual in the industry. Things that set me apart from the others is my energy. I am often told that I have the power to take over a room with my energy no matter the size of the crowd.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid-19 brought forth many important challenges and lessons that I had to learn that shaped me into being the creator I am today. Due to the forced distancing I found myself not being able to connect with other creators and train to grow as a dancer. Covid -19 forced me to explore different avenues to connect and learn with people all around the world. I began to use social media as an outlet to not only show case my talents, but to also grow and learn from other creators in the industry. In using social media, it allowed for me to have a more prominent presence in the social media world and obtain many opportunities to showcase my talents in front of millions around the world.
