Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. LaTarsha Holden.
Hi Dr. LaTarsha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Before I became Dr. LaTarsha Holden, founder of Holden Global Solutions and creator of the Forged in the Fire Leadership Philosophy™, I was simply a woman trying to survive.
Years ago, I experienced nearly five years of homelessness while raising my six children. During that time, we lived in a homeless shelter, hotels, my sister’s home, our car, and eventually in a boarded-up abandoned house. Those years tested every part of me, but they also began shaping the leader I would become. I learned that true leadership isn’t developed by titles or positions—it’s forged through adversity, character, humility, and purpose.
Rather than allowing my circumstances to define me, I committed myself to personal growth and education. I earned an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, MBA, and Doctorate in Leadership Studies, along with certifications in mental health peer support, anger management, and community leadership. More importantly, I dedicated my life to serving others and helping people discover that their greatest challenges can become the foundation for their greatest impact.
Today, I serve as the founder of Holden Global Solutions, where I equip individuals, organizations, and communities through leadership development training, speaking, coaching, and mental health advocacy. Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of speaking in schools, churches, nonprofits, universities, and conferences, appearing on television and podcasts, authoring books, and developing what has become the Forged in the Fire Leadership Philosophy™.
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief: Become. Lead. The Influence Will Come. I believe lasting influence is earned through who we become, not what we achieve. My mission is to help people feel seen, valued, respected, and heard while developing leaders who lead with character, humility, and purpose.
Looking back, I never could have imagined that the woman living in that abandoned house would one day be leading, teaching, writing, and encouraging others around the world. My story is proof that your past doesn’t determine your future—it can become the very foundation of your purpose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs and leaders, my journey has included both personal and professional challenges that required perseverance, faith, and a willingness to keep growing.
One of the greatest challenges was experiencing nearly five years of homelessness while raising my six children. That season tested my confidence, my faith, and my resilience. There were moments when the future seemed uncertain, but I refused to let my circumstances define who I would become.
Even after rebuilding my life, the journey wasn’t easy. Building credibility, earning advanced degrees, developing a leadership philosophy, writing books, and creating a business all took years of consistent work. Much of what people see today is the result of over two decades of serving, learning, leading, and continuing to grow—often without recognition or immediate results.
I’ve also learned that not everyone will understand your vision. There were times when I had to continue believing in the work even before others could see it. That required patience, discernment, and the courage to stay committed to my purpose instead of chasing quick success.
Looking back, I realize every challenge was part of the forging process. Those experiences shaped not only who I am but also the leadership philosophy I teach today. They reinforced my belief that leadership is developed from the inside out and that our greatest trials can become the foundation for our greatest purpose.
Today, I’m grateful for every part of the journey because it allows me to authentically encourage others. My life is living proof that difficult seasons don’t have to be the end of your story—they can become the beginning of something far greater.
We’ve been impressed with Holden Global Solutions , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Holden Global Solutions exists to develop leaders from the inside out. At the heart of our work is The Forged in the Fire Leadership Philosophy™, a leadership framework I developed over more than two decades of lived experience, education, research, and service.
While many leadership programs focus primarily on skills and strategies, my philosophy begins with a different question: Who must I become to lead well? I believe the quality of our leadership will never consistently exceed the quality of our character. That’s why we emphasize character, humility, and purpose as the foundation of lasting leadership.
Through leadership development training, keynote speaking, workshops, coaching, and mental health advocacy, I help individuals, organizations, schools, nonprofits, churches, and community leaders develop the inner qualities that create meaningful and sustainable influence. My signature message is simple: Become. Lead. The Influence Will Come.
What sets our work apart is that it isn’t based solely on theory. It has been forged through real-life experience. My own journey—from homelessness to earning a doctorate in Leadership Studies, serving communities, speaking on national media platforms, and training leaders—has shaped every principle I teach. The philosophy has been tried, tested, and proven over more than twenty years.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that people don’t simply remember my story—they remember the philosophy. My goal has never been to build a platform centered on myself. Instead, I’ve worked to build a framework that can outlive me and continue equipping leaders for generations to come.
I want readers to know that Holden Global Solutions is more than a consulting and speaking company. It’s a mission-driven organization committed to helping people feel seen, valued, respected, and heard while developing leaders who create stronger organizations, healthier communities, and lasting impact. My hope is that every person who encounters this work leaves believing that their greatest challenges can become the very place where their leadership is forged.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d like readers to remember, it’s this: your circumstances do not have the final say over your future. Your greatest challenge may become the very thing that prepares you for your greatest purpose.
For many years, I thought I was simply surviving. Looking back, I now realize I was being forged. Every setback, every lesson, every opportunity to serve was shaping the leader I would become. That’s why my life’s work is centered on one simple philosophy: Become. Lead. The Influence Will Come.
I also want people to understand that influence isn’t something we chase—it’s something we steward. When we focus on becoming people of character, humility, and purpose, the opportunities to serve and make a difference naturally grow over time. Results will vary for each person, but meaningful influence is built through consistent service, integrity, and a commitment to becoming our best selves.
My hope is that the Forged in the Fire Leadership Philosophy™ becomes more than a message people hear. I hope it becomes a framework that helps individuals, organizations, and communities develop leaders who lead with compassion, integrity, and purpose.
Above all, I want people to know that there is always hope. No matter where your journey begins, your story is still being written. Keep becoming, keep serving, and keep leading. You never know whose life will be changed because you chose not to give up.
