Hi Jovonn P., thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I truly believe becoming a home inspector was a calling from God. It was never a career I was pursuing or even something I had considered.

About a year after my family and I relocated to Georgia from Kentucky in 2013, we purchased our first home. As part of that process, we scheduled a home inspection. I decided to attend the inspection—not to interrupt the inspector, but to observe and learn. As I watched him work, something clicked. Years before moving to Georgia, I had attended carpentry school and learned how to build a home from the ground up. Seeing him perform a thorough visual inspection in just a few hours, I remember thinking, “I know I can do this.”

When the inspection was finished, I felt led by the Holy Spirit to ask him what it took to become a certified home inspector. He graciously took the time to explain the process and provided me with all the information I needed to get started. That’s all I needed to hear. The very next day, I enrolled in the required courses.

Within two months, I had earned my certification and was ready to begin my journey. I was blessed to receive hands-on mentoring from that same inspector, followed by additional training with another outstanding inspector who helped sharpen my skills. Those experiences gave me the confidence and foundation to launch my own company, JPJ Home Inspections LLC.

Since opening my business in 2017, I can honestly say that God’s hand has been evident every step of the way. He has opened doors I could never have opened myself, connected me with incredible clients and real estate professionals, and allowed me to build a business based on integrity, excellence, and service. My faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything I do. It shapes how I treat my clients, how I conduct my business, and how I define success. For me, inspecting homes isn’t just a profession—it’s an opportunity to serve people well, protect one of the biggest investments of their lives, and ultimately honor God through my work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t describe the journey as smooth—I would describe it as blessed. As a believer, I’ve learned that blessings often come with battles. Every season of growth comes with challenges that strengthen your faith, character, and perseverance.

The first few months were definitely the hardest. As a brand-new home inspector, I was trying to figure out where I fit in the industry. I didn’t yet know my niche or how to effectively connect with Realtors who would trust me with their clients. To make things even more challenging, I had already left my previous job, so JPJ Home Inspections was my family’s only source of income. There were weeks when I didn’t have a single inspection scheduled, and other weeks where I might only have one or two.

Instead of giving up, I stayed consistent, continued learning, and trusted God through the uncertainty. Eventually, I discovered my niche by using Instagram to showcase my work, educate homeowners, and build genuine relationships with real estate professionals. That’s when everything began to change.

I truly believe God chose to breathe on my business. Since then, He has continued to open doors, provide opportunities, and surround me with incredible clients and Realtor partners throughout Georgia. Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you have to trust God in every aspect of life—including business. It’s easy to trust Him when things are going well, but the real test comes when the phone isn’t ringing, opportunities seem scarce, or you’re questioning whether you’re on the right path.

There were moments when doubt tried to creep in, and I’ve learned that when you lean on your own understanding, fear can rob you of your confidence and cause you to lose sight of the vision God has given you. But when you place your hope and trust in the one true living God, your perspective changes. You begin to understand that He is in control, even when you can’t see what He’s doing behind the scenes.

One of my favorite promises is Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” That verse has been an anchor throughout my entrepreneurial journey. It reminds me that every setback, every delay, every challenge, and every victory has a purpose.

Business has taught me far more than how to inspect homes—it has taught me how to walk by faith. My success hasn’t come from relying solely on my own abilities, but from trusting God to order my steps, open the right doors, and provide exactly what I need at the right time. That lesson has not only made me a better business owner; it has made me a stronger man of faith.
