Today we’d like to introduce you to Sahana Turner.
Sahana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started braiding hair at 15 in Douglasville, Georgia, getting clients off Craigslist ads. At 17, right after I graduated, I recorded myself braiding a client and sold it as a tutorial on Facebook. That was the first time I made money online from a digital product.
I spent the next few years in salons in Midtown and Atlantic Station while juggling college and cosmetology school. Then I had my baby at 21 and moved to LA, and LA humbled me. The clients weren’t there, so I taught English online to kids in China and did Instacart to cover bills. That season taught me I HAD to figure out a way to make money from social media.
I started turning everything I knew into digital offers, and I found my actual gift, which is helping business owners take the idea in their head and turn it into an offer people can buy. I went full time and never looked back. Now I serve entrepreneurs worldwide, because digital means there’s no ceiling and no borders.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it wasn’t smooth. I dropped out of college & I got pregnant at 21 and moved across the country to Los Angeles with nothing figured out. I lived with my great grandmother for years,
And the whole time, I was posting motivational videos on Instagram and Facebook. People thought I was delusional. Here I was speaking about abundance and vision from a bunk bed. But I wasn’t faking it I was just speaking to the version of me I was walking toward, and I got there.
That’s the part I want women to hear. You are allowed to speak about the life you’re building before anyone can see it. The people who called me delusional were just early to my party.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I help people turn what they already know into digital offers they can sell online. A founder brings me an idea living in their head, and I shape it into something people can actually buy.
I sell a full variety of ebooks, courses, and guided meditations for entrepreneurs, and I run EGD (Entrepreneurs Go Digital), my online community, where entrepreneurs meet with me every week to build their businesses and attend my live classes.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love about Atlanta is the room to expand. Everybody there is building something, and there’s a real belief that you can start with nothing but an idea and grow it into something serious.
What I like least is the traffic. I’ve made peace with it but I’ll never love it.
