Meet Dominique Ivory of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Ivory.

Hi Dominique, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I really have loved music since I was young. I’m from Florida down there. We have a radio station called (Z 88.3). I have to give them credit for diversifying my musical ear. They played everything from Eminem to Linkin Park , I CANT FORGET (TONY HAWK UNDERGROUND) or even when the adults would play the good oldies like Roy Ayers , or Gerald Levert. (The Carter 3 by Lil Wayne) is what made me want to grab a pen and put my words to paper (10,000 bars by Lil Wayne made me want to RAP. Any musical artist I like i study… I watch shows they have , concerts , I watch all the interviews , I even watch how they handle conflict in the media. Wayne made me want to RAP. This leads me to Kanye West , he’s on my list for his love and passion of the music ; the way he understand the music and encourages people to be better with their art. I was 13 years old when I started writing. Right now I’m at a good point with the music , I get that’s there’s business and also I can’t forget to have fun. That’s what made me fall in love with music in the first place , the free art of expression. I have a tape that I’ve been working on since last year. It’s called (ForeverMore) , This tape is about expressing myself , I take music serious , but I do want to show that fun is still here. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been smooth and I’m grateful for it. I’ve seen things and experienced stuff that normally people wouldn’t in this lifetime. I don’t compare struggles , but experience is real and it’s one of life’s biggest teachers. The musical journey has opened my mind and I’m appreciative.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
When it comes to music , I can do the whole process. Producing , engineering , the artist. I had to just stay consistent and train myself over the years. I pride myself on being versatile , I might make a pop song , I might make a rap song. What I will say is that my lyrics and how I express myself definitely sets me apart and satisfy the listeners ears , for whoever choose to listen.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m pretty simple when it comes to things like this , because I’m an artist. I read books, I draw, I watch anime , I like to go outside these are some things that help me do my best and keep me in balance.
