Meet Elijah Ensor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Ensor.

Hi Elijah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Funny story is I’ve been making noise since the day I was born, my parents would say! Around the age of ten, my mom had a friend come visit us who was in the entertainment business. That friend overheard me singing in the shower and told my mom, “I think your son is an artist” From that point on, my parents really encouraged me to pursue learning instruments and working on my voice.

I’m a military brat, so we’ve moved a lot, but I would call a sleepy little town in Centreville, MD where I grew up. After I started pursing music, we began flying to Atlanta quite a bit to work with producers here. After a year of back and forth, we decided to make Marietta home. Here in Atlanta, I was blessed to be able to work with vocal coach Jan Smith and I would say that’s when I thought about doing this for a living. I began performing out and getting lots of opportunities to showcase my talents.

In addition to pursuing music, I played travel lacrosse all across the country. By senior year I was ranked twenty seventh in the Nation and earned a scholarship to The Ohio State. I recently gave up my lacrosse career to pursue my passion full-time. While at college, I tried hard to keep up academics, music and the hectic lacrosse schedule. In the end, my passion for music made it impossible for me to remain at OSU. Being able to head back to Atlanta and enroll at KSU and really give music the majority of my time has been a blessing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth like any person in this business will tell you. I missed a lot of childhood, really always opting to take care of my voice over eating ice cream and pizza and cokes. My schedule was rigid so I spent a lot more time with adults learning the business than doing stupid things kids do. This business is a whole lot of no’s with a few yes’s along the way so you develop a pretty thick skin. Sometimes that skin cracks a little so it’s important to always remember your why’s.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a singer/songwriter, I try to emote feelings and emotions in music that inspires and touches people. I have been performing since the age of ten. Music is engrained in all I do. I love pushing myself and exploring all genres of music. I think it is important to continue to grow and always learn your craft. I definitely love performing live and connecting with the audience.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are so many people who have been encouraging to me and my endeavors. I am blessed to work with some amazing people. My supporters are all over the world but I hold a special place to my Georgia and Tennessee supporters. I also have an incredible family. My parents and siblings have devoted so much to my success. There is not enough time to thank everyone that has been a part of my journey.
