Meet JoKlan of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to JoKlan.

Hi JoKlan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started JoKlan Entertainment six years ago. I was once featured in this magazine before when I first started out and a lot has shifted since then. My name is Jordan Roberts I go by the Artist name JoKlan. I create music with a storytelling element. I first created this hub strictly towards photography and cinematography and creating visuals for clients who wanted to tell a story with whatever they could think of. As I was behind the camera I started to remember my younger days where music played a huge part in my life and I had dreams to just use my voice while living through the world. I realized I had peers and people around me who were doing the same thing with using their voice so I went within and took a step back from creating for other people to creating for myself and it opened up layers I didn’t know could even be there. February 2025 I dropped my first single “Flow” and it had semi major traction which prompted me to continue because I took it as a sign that I’m on the right path for myself. I started to strive for something that’s fulfilling to my mind, body, and soul. First month 400 monthly listeners and it was all because I chose to put myself out there differently and I had the vulnerability to do so. Im in year two of this and I am glad to say I’m still making music and creating visuals that creates that world

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride. I was homeless twice when I started to record music again, I lived in my car a few times, but I’ve always bounced back and found my footing. Ive had bad roommate situations that led to difficult hassles during the time of rebranding and embodying JoKlan. I’ve been scammed by producers hahah I’ve learned my lesson with that! I’ve given my last just to create because I truly believe it comes back 10x fold. But starting a Independent Record Label wasn’t on my bingo card for 2025 but some how in the midst of all of that I was uncovering more and more about myself that made me realize I wanted to become an Independent Artist. I love to inspire and with all the struggles I came across I realized I had more to talk about and process when it came to music.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Music Artist, Producer, Filmmaker, Singer-songwriter. I play many roles. I still operate as a Photographer for brands and businesses. My business is called JoKlan Entertainment and mainly used a creative hub but music is the main vision. I’m known for my multifaceted layer of creative projects, whether music or photography. The main thing I’m proud of is that I’m still solely operating as a creative even when things are not adding up financially for me. I couldn’t speak on what actually sets me apart from the others because I believe people perceive me in many different ways. I truly believe standing firm with knowing and honoring myself is something that’ll never shake when it comes down to the music industry, I’m truly proud of myself.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My life partner Kendalyn deserves the credit for being a huge help during the process of becoming a music artist. She’s seen the ups and downs but she also creates and design my outfits for my music videos. Creative direction help has came from her as well on some of my projects. When I can’t afford a videographer she’s that too so shoutout to her for sure! I really haven’t found a good mentor yet or even someone who’s in the industry who’s willing to teach the young up and coming independent artists. It’s honestly a lot of gatekeeping and it’s sad truly, but hey I remember rejection is protection. I have a good bit of supporters who take the time to actually listen to my music and interact with my growth I truly see the ones who support from afar.
