Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTasha Harrington.
Hi LaTasha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hair has always been my favorite way to express myself! My 15+ year hairstylist career began early in Indianapolis. The opportunity to become a licensed cosmetologist became a reality when I was in high school. Shortly after I moved to Huntsville, AL, to attend Alabama A&M University. I worked part-time as a hairstylist throughout college. And with my bachelor’s degree in hand, I started working full time as a hairstylist. Throughout the years, I’ve helped women transition back to natural, explore different looks with extensions and hair color, and have styled countless brides. This journey led me to open my own salon, LaEve Hair Boutique, in 2020.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur has definitely had its ups and downs. Especially in the midst of a global pandemic. You have to know every part of your business to make it run well. And what you don’t know, you have to hire out. I often remind myself that it’s okay to ask for help! I’ve been fortunate to have a great community to ask for help when I need it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My specialties include styling brides and bridal parties, special events, and creating luxury custom wigs for my Nxt Lvl Glam ready-to-wear wig line. This amazing industry has granted me opportunities such as being an educator for Design Essentials, styling for NYFW, television, editorial productions, and I’m also among a few hairstylists that is DevaCut Certified Level 3. I’ve spent countless hours taking courses to keep me on the cutting edge. Much of this information I share in my blog on my website HairByLaTasha.com.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love to eat and the great outdoors! So when I’m not working, I’m usually at a local food truck, 5-star restaurant, enjoying parks and live music events. Construction in the city is quite bothersome, so it makes it difficult getting to the afore mentioned.
