Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleah Rochelin.
Hi Aleah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey as an entrepreneur began when I was 17 years old, making wigs in my room and offering makeup services. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a passion for beauty and entrepreneurship, inspiring me to continue developing my skills and building a business of my own.
While I was a college student at the University at Buffalo, I noticed that there weren’t many hair professionals on campus, and I saw an opportunity to provide a service that other students needed. I began doing hair out of my dorm room, which became the beginning of something much bigger.
During the pandemic, I decided to expand beyond providing services and began selling hair as well. While navigating college and such an uncertain time in the world, I continued building my clientele, servicing my clients, and growing my business simultaneously. That experience taught me how to be resourceful, consistent, and willing to create opportunities for myself instead of waiting for them.
After graduating from college, I took another leap of faith and moved to New Jersey, where I opened my own salon suite and continued building The Beauty Alley. Looking back, it’s amazing to see the evolution—from making wigs in my room at 17, to doing hair and offering makeup services, to working out of my college dorm, and eventually becoming a graduate, business owner, hairstylist, and entrepreneur with a growing brand.
Every stage of my journey has required me to step outside of my comfort zone and believe in a vision that wasn’t fully developed yet. What began with making wigs and offering makeup services has grown into a brand that represents my passion for beauty, entrepreneurship, and creating experiences that make women feel confident. And I still feel like I’m only at the beginning of what I’m building.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After graduating, moving to New Jersey and opening my own salon suite was another major leap of faith. I was essentially starting over in a new environment while taking on the responsibilities that came with having my own space and continuing to grow The Beauty Alley.
There have been seasons of doubt, setbacks, sacrifices, and moments where I’ve had to completely pivot. But those experiences have taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of trusting my vision even when I can’t see the full picture yet.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I’m grateful that it hasn’t been. Every challenge has shaped the woman and entrepreneur I am today, and each new level has shown me that there is still so much more for me to learn and accomplis
