Rising Stars: Meet Curstyn Dozier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Curstyn Dozier.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Cakes by Curstyn started with a simple belief: life is worth celebrating, and every celebration deserves a dessert that’s just as memorable as the moment itself.

Baking has always been something I loved, but turning that passion into a business came during a season when I was looking for a fresh start. After spending years in hospitality, and aviation I wanted to create something that was truly my own, something that allowed me to pour creativity, joy, and love into every order.

What began as making custom freestyle design cakes for family, friends, and special occasions quickly grew through word of mouth. People weren’t just coming back because the cakes looked beautiful—they were coming back because they tasted homemade, made from the heart, and brought people together. Seeing the smiles on customers’ faces reminded me that I wasn’t just baking desserts; I was helping create memories that would last long after the last slice was gone.

Today, Cakes by Curstyn has grown into a brand built on quality, creativity, and genuine passion. From custom freestyle design celebration cakes to cakesicles, cupcakes, and unique dessert creations, every item is handcrafted with attention to detail and designed to make each customer feel special.

But this is only the beginning. My vision is to see Cakes by Curstyn become a household name—serving weddings, festivals, sporting events, corporate gatherings, schools, and communities across the country while never losing the homemade touch that started it all.
At the end of the day, Cakes by Curstyn isn’t just about cake. It’s about celebrating life’s biggest milestones and the sweetest everyday moments with desserts that bring people together, create lasting memories, and make every occasion feel extraordinary.

After all, that’s the Cakes by Curstyn Experience, where every dessert is made with passion, every detail matters, and every bite is a celebration.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, if I’ve learned anything on this journey, it’s that purpose is often born through pressure.

Building Cakes by Curstyn hasn’t been a straight path. There have been moments of uncertainty, closed doors, unanswered emails, and opportunities that didn’t work out the way I had hoped. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve questioned myself, wondered if I was doing enough, and faced the temptation to give up. But every time I thought about quitting, my faith reminded me why I started.

I believe God placed this dream in my heart for a reason. So when I faced rejection, I chose to see it as redirection. When doors closed, I trusted that God was protecting me from opportunities that weren’t meant for me and preparing me for the ones that were. My faith became my greatest source of strength, reminding me that delays are not denials and that God’s timing is always greater than my own.

One of the hardest parts of entrepreneurship is believing in your vision before the world believes in it. There are days when you’re your own biggest cheerleader. You keep showing up, keep perfecting your craft, keep investing in yourself, and keep trusting that every small step is leading somewhere bigger. That’s where faith meets hard work.

Today, I don’t look at my obstacles with regret, I look at them with gratitude. They shaped the entrepreneur I am becoming and deepened my appreciation for every customer, every opportunity, and every milestone. My story is still being written, and I believe the best chapters for Cakes by Curstyn are still ahead.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in creating buttercream magic. I consider myself a freestyle buttercream cake artist, where each cake becomes a blank canvas and every design is created with creativity, intuition, and a little bit of imagination.

I’m most known for my freestyle designs and unique flavor combinations. What I love most about my work is that no two cakes are exactly alike. I don’t just decorate cakes, I transform desserts into one-of-a-kind pieces of edible art that reflect the personality, celebration, and story behind each order.

One of the things I’m most proud of is my growth. I am a completely self-taught cake artist, and the incredible part is that I never knew I had this talent until I decided to try. What started as curiosity turned into a passion, and that passion has grown into a brand that allows me to create something meaningful for others.

What sets Cakes by Curstyn apart is the ability to take something as simple as cake and turn it into an unforgettable experience. My goal is for people to not only see a beautiful cake, but to feel the creativity, love, and passion that went into making it.

For me, cake is more than dessert, it’s edible art, a celebration, and a memory people get to share.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Honestly, my favorite book is the Bible. It has been my source of strength, encouragement, and guidance throughout my journey.

Building a business comes with challenges, and there have been moments when I felt overwhelmed, questioned myself, or wondered if I was truly capable of turning my dream into reality. During those moments, I found comfort in the words and promises found in the Bible. It reminded me to stay faithful, keep moving forward, and trust that God’s plan is greater than any obstacle I may face.

The Bible has been a constant reminder that my journey is about more than just building a bakery, it’s about walking in purpose, using the gifts God has given me, and serving others through something as simple and joyful as dessert.

Whenever I needed encouragement, I found it there. It has helped me stay grounded, continue believing in myself, and remember that every dream requires faith, patience, and perseverance.
