Rising Stars: Meet Dr. Adrienne White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Adrienne White. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Adrienne D. White is an Assistant Professor in the Counselor Education Department at a public university in NJ. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Education & Supervision and Master of Science in Counseling from Mercer University. Her current research interest includes prevention of counselor burnout and diversity and inclusion-related concerns.

Dr. White is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and Virginia with additional studies in Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. White has over ten years of clinical work with adults, adolescents, children, couples and families; Dr. White specializes in Women Empowerment, Mental Health Awareness, Depression, and Anxiety. In addition to her love for therapy, she is an entrepreneur at heart, owning three wellness businesses, including the nonprofit @hopedealerATL, therapy practice @drwhitetherapy and beauty and wellness spa @bodhispa_ga.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road for me, being the first in my family to break so many generational curses that have been placed on me. I was one of the 1st in my family to receive my Ph.D. also to relocate and build business in other areas. I struggle with sometimes feeling alone and isolated from my family. I miss cookouts and seeing my nieces and nephews get bigger and sometimes the feeling of not starting a family sooner.
