Rising Stars: Meet Mia Winget of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Winget.

Hi Mia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Prior to my introduction to the wedding world, my background and skills surrounded project coordination and client care. From boutique styling to managerial roles, I’ve always had a deep desire for serving my clients: not because it was my “job”, but because I wanted them to have the best possible experience. To know that I might have shaped someone’s day for the better was all I needed at six in the morning on opening shift (that, and some caffeine).

I entered the wedding world brazenly; googling, “best wedding planners in Chattanooga” and emailing the top 5 with a brief introduction of myself and something I loved about their business model. 1 responded, and that was all I needed. I shadowed my first wedding in the late summer of 2025, and I was hooked. I loved the organization, the beauty, the intricacy, and maybe most of all, the “being in charge-ness” of it all. After that wedding, I went to an open house, where I was introduced and given the opportunity to work for a venue, another amazing opportunity. By the time 2025 had ended, I had assisted 21 weddings, and planned and coordinated one all on my own.

Today, I specialize in creating intimate, intentional experiences that are personalized to each couples unique love story. I take so much pride in my work, and my paramount goal is to give my couples my absolute all. Because I know an average work day for me, is a story my couples will tell fifty years from now.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entering and getting accustomed to the wedding world came with many waves of challenges. I was used to the strictly scheduled corporate jobs I had grown to love; with supervisors I had to meet with weekly and short 30 minute lunch breaks. Being able to make my own schedule was freeing, but I quickly realized that I was setting unattainable, grandiose goals for myself and my business. When I would inevitably fall short of these goals, I only felt more stress and disappointment

Figuring out my capabilities has definitely been the biggest learning curve. I am the type of person that will stretch myself thin in order to preserve my clients experience. So, being able to recognize and humanize my abilities has not only given myself grace, but has created a better event experience for my couples.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an event planner and coordinator, primarily working in the wedding industry. I specialize in creating intimate, intentional experiences that are personalized to each client’s unique story. I love weddings that showcase a couple’s life. From on-site tattoo artists, to magicians, to costumes, I believe your wedding is a chance for your friends and family to step into your world for a day.

I also proudly serve individuals of all sexual orientation, gender, race, ethnicity, and financial background. I also offer sliding scale rates and various discounts to my couples, because I firmly believe in the de-commercialization of the wedding industry.

I am most proud of my out-of-the-box, creative eye which pairs with my organized, type-A mind wonderfully in this industry. I love gaudy, over-the-top, maximalist weddings with color and story. I love my couples who want to challenge the idea of what a wedding is and how they can make their wedding fit themselves. But, I also understand (deeply) the importance of a timeline, and will never set up a ceremony chair out of line. I believe an event planner and coordinator has to have both- a creative eye and an organized mind.
