Rising Stars: Meet Sara Masterson of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Masterson.

Hi Sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always felt out of place when it came to figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. Every job or career path I tried to pursue felt like I was forcing myself into something that was never meant for me. For a long time, I wondered if I was just unambitious or lazy.
Then, on a whim, I moved to Georgia with my boyfriend and my best friend, Aiden. That decision changed everything. For the first time, I realized that my life didn’t have to follow someone else’s blueprint, it could be whatever I chose to make of it.
Since then, I’ve been living life on my own terms. My partner and I started an event business together, and I walked away from the idea that success has to look like a traditional 9 to 5 Instead, I’ve focused on building a life that feels meaningful, creative, and genuinely enjoyable.
Looking back, I think I’ve always known this about myself. Ever since teachers started asking, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” my answer, even if I didn’t have the words for it, was simple: I just wanted to be me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Life has thrown more than its fair share of challenges my way, but every setback has strengthened my mindset. I truly believe my life began to change the moment I changed the way I looked at it.
I’ve learned to see rejection as redirection. Every closed door has led me to opportunities I never would have found otherwise. The obstacles I once saw as failures became the moments that pushed me toward the life I was actually meant to build.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A little bit of everything. Most people know me through the events my partner, Aiden, and I throw under our business, The M4 Collective. Creating experiences that bring people together has become a huge part of who I am, but it’s far from the only thing I do.
Outside of events, I model, draw, produce music, and I’m always looking to try something new if it sounds exciting. I don’t like putting myself in a box, I enjoy exploring whatever sparks my creativity.
I’d say I’m most proud of my growth in learning to take risks. Stepping outside my comfort zone has led me to some of the best experiences of my life, and it’s taught me to trust myself and embrace the unknown.
If there’s one thing that sets me apart, it’s my belief in myself. I don’t spend much time worrying about whether I’ll succeed because I know I’ll make something meaningful of my life. That confidence doesn’t come from thinking everything will be easy, it comes from knowing my future is in my own hands, and trusting myself to keep building it.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see what I’m building reaching people all over the world. Not just through The M4 Collective, but through my own personal work as well. I don’t see myself being limited to one industry or one path. I know I’m capable of creating something much bigger, and I want to take every opportunity as far as it can go. I don’t want to put limits on what I can achieve, I want to keep growing, evolving, and seeing just how far I can take it.
