We recently had the chance to connect with Cyndi Ystes and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cyndi , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. Because within integrity, your energy and intelligence follows.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve been with Dermaculture and an aesthetician for 42 years. My mother started with them in 1974. My mantra has been unique skin care for men, women, teenagers. I am the only one in Atlanta that does this treatment along with my oxygen treatment. I’ve evolved a lot in my business by doing add-ons to the Dermaculture Iderm derp pore cleansing facial. I offer chemical peels by Elaine Brennan. The Micropeel & Skin renewal peel. Also microneedling, oxygen treatment, microdermabrasion, LED! I’ve recently started doing salmon sperm microneedling. Also the Biorepeel with Microneedling backed up by the carboxy CO2 treatment.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My mother, she was a fantastic woman. Her and my father divorced in 1974. It was still at the time where women need their husband signature to get credit. My Mother knew that was the avenue to her success. At the time she worked as a bookkeeper for beneficial financial. She went to her boss, asked him what could he do to help her start building Credit. He told her to go buy something and he would finance it so that’s what she did. She bought an emerald diamond ring and when it’s all said done, she had credit cards with $50,000 limit
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
When my baby brother was murdered in the Houston mass murders and for 2 1/2 years, we had to search for him because the police wouldn’t help us just a scenario of how he was murdered was devastating to our family, and it actually broke our family up I had to get in a place of forgiveness. Today I fight to keep his murderers in prison and that is healing me.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh yeah, I am the same all the time!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Well, I’m 72 now and it’s coming soon. What would they say was they missed my funny stories my infectious laugh, and the care and kindness that I always gave regardless. And then I seem to have Life wisdom to give them answers to things they couldn’t get anywhere else.
