Alexis-Star, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
THE LOC EXPERIENCE actually began unintentionally, however I’m so grateful it happened! Prior to this business, I had no desire to do hair.

I’ve always been creative, so one day, I took on the challenge of doing faux locs on myself. I did my research, practiced and perfected them because I had a particular look in mind. I knew I didn’t want them to look like the typical faux locs. I wanted that to look as natural as possible.

So after six hours of hand making the locs, two installs on myself and a ton of compliments, I decide to make it a hustle, which has been a blessing since. It still feels like I moved into my salon suite and gained clients overnight!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, I really can’t say there’s been many struggles along the way. I’m a new mom to a beautiful baby girl, so my sleep pattern and schedule can definitely get hectic!

There are also lessons I’ve learned and maybe a few small challenges I’ve faced, like needing to advertise more and build a bigger social media presence.

This journey has been a blessing though. Overall, I’ve obtained a loyal clientele. Whom majority of I’ve built close relationships with. My clients are like a little family of mine.

Please tell us about THE LOC EXPERIENCE.
THE LOC EXPERIENCE specializes in custom hand-made faux loc extensions.

Typically faux locs are created during the install process by a long braid then wrapping hair around it, which can be very time consuming, heavy and cause tension.

Sometimes the typical faux locs are also crocheted in, which is quicker however does not last long.

THE LOC EXPERIENCE locs are handmade prior to installing, which creates a more natural appeal. They are also lightweight, installed individually, tension free and only takes 3.5 hours to install.

Being that they’re lightweight, we offer lengths as long as knee-length. Best of all, being that they’re hand made, they can be reinstalled at a discounted rate as well.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t have done anything differently!
