Ya know, Rum isn’t all about Pirates and peg legs… Did you know that George Washington had a barrel of Barbados rum at his inauguration and that most political candidates after this would use rum to influence elections? The colonial townspeople would gather to see which candidate was more generously giving with their rum and candidates were expected to drink with the people to show they were a true independent and republican of the state.
