We recently had the chance to connect with Brooke Jaye Taylor & Matthew Cornwell and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Brooke Jaye & Matthew, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
The vast majority of us as humans struggle with feeling seen. It manifests in many ways, not the least of which is how we engage with social media. Everyone wants their voice to be heard or their story to be known. It’s why art is as essential as oxygen. We watch stories and listen to music to feel less alone in the world. And when something truly resonates with us, a part of us feels seen. Most people don’t recognize the importance of that feeling, even though we’re constantly seeking it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Brooke Jaye Taylor and Matthew Cornwell, two actors living in Atlanta, GA. We’ve been married since 2010, run one of the original audition taping services for actors (Get Taped!), and have grown to offer classes and workshops. Then, in early 2025, we started producing our very own sketch comedy show called The Brooke & Matt Show!
Each episode of our show is around 20min long and is full of clean, clever comedy. We’re inspired by comedy legends like Carol Burnett and Key & Peele. What makes us unique is that you can’t find a full-length sketch comedy show on YouTube. You can find short comedy bits, but not a long-form show like The Brooke & Matt Show.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Both of us were changed when we experienced the Sam Christensen Image Process. Sam not only saw us at our core, but also took us on a journey to embrace how we’re seen by the world and to find peace in that. There is such power in discovering your most authentic self. It was career-changing for both of us! We use the results that we received every day as actors, and specifically in our sketches that we write and shoot.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Choosing a life in the arts sets you up for a lot of disappointment. We get told “no” thousands of times over our careers, and only hear “yes” on the rarest occasion. However, this life teaches you about resilience, discipline, and holding on to your sense of purpose. When you learn not to define yourself by outcomes, and instead find joy and fulfillment in the process, the result is a whole lot more peace in your life. That said, it’s still an ongoing struggle to maintain that sense of peace.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
For both of us, our Christian faith is extremely important. We treat our business endeavors as a ministry, and are always using our faith as the compass by which we guide our lives. And by definition, faith is belief in something you can’t see or prove.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
We hope that we are example to others of the light of Christ. We want our marriage to be an inspiration, and we want everyone in our lives to feel that we loved them well.
