We recently had the chance to connect with Mystic Rainn and have shared our conversation below.
Mystic, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I mean, I could say I journal and do affirmations, but that would be a lie. I wake up groggy and typically spend that time rebooting like a Windows 98 computer. I usually shuffle to the kitchen, make a cup of really strong coffee, and plan out what needs to be done that day, while also reassessing what can wait. I’m not a fan of sprinting into my day or starting with urgency because I don’t think many things are genuinely so important that they can’t wait until lunch. I like to allow my nervous system to ease into things quietly without much fuss.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the founder and CEO of Sovereign Quill Press, a publishing house that I created because I was tired of asking for a seat at someone else’s table. I didn’t want to play the same game as everyone else and wanted to create new things without always feeling hindered. After years of navigating gatekeepers, half-aligned opportunities, and a publishing industry that often prioritizes market trends over meaningful work, I decided to build something that made more sense for the kind of impact I wanted to have.
Outside of the press, I’m also known as Mystic Rainn, The Mystic Maven, a spiritual visionary, mindset coach, and author of the upcoming The Glow-Up Manifesto and previous The Fool’s Guide to Tarot. My work centers around helping people reclaim their personal power, trust their inner wisdom, and lead lives that are aligned, intentional, and deeply transformative. I work with those who know they’re here to make a meaningful impact in the world. My role is to help them clarify their purpose, strengthen their voice, and embody their power from the inside out.
I’m currently working on launching my next book, The Glow-Up Manifesto, which is a spiritual self-help guide for women who are done waiting for permission to live authentically and are ready to embark on their personal empowerment journey to rewrite the rules of their own story. Its release date is December 2, 2025, so keep an eye out!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was still me. Just as funny. Just as cool. I just didn’t know it yet, because society doesn’t give you permission to meet yourself. If you met yourself too early, you’d be a powerhouse that society can’t control, so it’s really adept at chipping away at your spirit.
The version of me you see today didn’t come from some reinvention. It came from me remembering bits and pieces of who I am. Slowly, over time, with each passing birthday. Every time I was told I spoke too much, it turned into me remembering I had a voice and needed to use it. Every time I was told my jokes weren’t funny, it reminded me that I appreciated humor. That one time a teacher told me not to be a perfectionist made me remember that I was just talented and skilled and took pride in my quality of work. Every rejection reminded me to pick myself, and every no reminded me that I could always say yes.
The world won’t hand you your essence, because that’s too easy. But it will give you the framework to find it.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering is a choice, and suffering taught me that I could choose not to do it. Unfortunately, this was a lesson I learned, and have seen many others learn, when they hit rock bottom. It’s the moment you say, “Screw this, I’m not dealing with this anymore,” or, “Never again will this be me.” In that moment, you make a choice to stop struggling. And when people make that choice with conviction, their life begins to shift, and mine did too. I learned that there is always another option, even if I can’t see what it is at that moment.
Success can teach you many things, but suffering? Suffering is what shows you your threshold. It’s what forces the question: “Am I done yet?” And when the answer becomes yes, you get to step into something better. Some people are just done with it sooner than others.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes… and.
It is all real, but facets of my personality are more exaggerated depending on what I’m doing. When I move as Mystic Rainn, I’m more spiritual because I’m tapped into Spirit at that time, but I’m also funnier because as a spiritual visionary and psychic medium, I’m also here “for entertainment purposes only.” When I move as the CEO, I’m more commanding and authoritative. All aspects are real, but some traits are more needed when I’m serving in certain capacities, making them more dominant during those times.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I’m a psychic medium, and in my world, I speak to immortal souls all the time. Sometimes, it’s a daily activity. We don’t die, only the body does, because it’s organic matter, but the spirit continues forever. There is definitely more life to live after this one, and for those who think they only have one opportunity or one life to live, I hope there is some comfort gained when I say that you have infinite opportunities and infinite lives to live.
Many people experience immortality in their normal lives when a loved one passes away. Ever said, “I just feel like they are still here with me?” It’s because they are.
I have already created and built from the perspective of immortality, and even as a child, I was intentional about how to communicate in such a way that those who came after me would still be able to hear me. A publishing house ensures everything I do or teach is in writing, and writing is an immortal art form. My work will be around long after I exit this body and move on to my next adventure, and if people choose to, reading my work will always be a way to interact with me in Spirit-form.
