We recently had the chance to connect with Rebecca Leslie and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts with blocking off the morning to focus on my business. This often includes blog writing, SEO, managing social media, or responding to emails. I make it a priority to include at least a 30-minute break during the day.
In the afternoons, my schedule is usually filled with seeing patients or meeting with other therapists or community providers. Recently, much of my time has been devoted to launching our new eating disorder intensive outpatient track with Recovery DBT, as well as opening our new Best Within You Therapy & Wellness office in Savannah.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dr. Rebecca Leslie, a licensed psychologist and the owner of Best Within You Therapy & Wellness. Our practice is a collaborative team of 11 clinicians, including registered dietitians, doctoral-level therapists, and psychologists.
My own clinical work focuses on eating concerns, particularly binge eating and emotional eating. As a practice, we provide specialized support for eating disorders, anxiety, depression, insomnia, health conditions, sports psychology, trauma, life transitions, and mood disorders.
One thing that makes us unique is our integrative approach — bringing together therapists and dietitians to support both the emotional and physical aspects of well-being when this is appropriate and wanted by a client. We are also dedicated to creating a supportive, compassionate space where clients feel understood and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. Each member of our team truly cares about our clients and this is more than just a job for us.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My father’s side of the family taught me the most about work. They built their careers on their own, without outside help or support, and showed me the value of work ethic, perseverance, and commitment to a goal.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’s okay to slow down. You do not have to do everything all at once. Slowing down does not mean you’re falling behind on your goals, it means you are taking care of yourself, which is a very important goal.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Loyalty, honesty, and commitment.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think what would be missed most is the incredible team of therapists at Best Within You Therapy & Wellness. Our clinicians truly care and put so much heart and effort into supporting their clients. The passion and commitment to both the team and the work we do here is hard to put into words.
On a personal level, I love this work and feel so connected to my clients and Best Within You, so it’s a hard question for me. I immediately think of how much I would miss them.
