Angel Fabián Rivera of Atlanta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Angel Fabián Rivera shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Angel Fabián, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
Right now, I’m on a journey of becoming who I’m truly meant to be. Every day, I’m rediscovering parts of myself in ways I never imagined. I want to keep inspiring Latinos—to show them that they can pursue their dreams and climb their own ladders of success. I want to be a living example for those who once had a dream of becoming someone or becoming better. Through my platform, Lights, Camera, Latino!, I get to share these stories, highlight Latino voices, and show the world that it’s possible to be unapologetically yourself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Angel Fabián Rivera—a proud Puerto Rican actor, content creator, host of Lights, Camera, Latino!, and founder of Latiné AF. I’m passionate about inspiring Latinos and putting our stories front and center. Growing up, I rarely saw people like me on screen, so now my mission is to show it’s possible. You can catch me on Netflix’s Plane, NBC/Telemundo’s Velvet, or follow my brand on social media. I believe in owning your journey, chasing your dreams, and, as I always say: when life knocks you down, you get up stronger and keep fighting.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up, watching my parents work tirelessly to give us the life we deserved was inspiring. They were always there for us, no matter what, and showed me the value of hard work, perseverance, and family. They taught me to chase my dreams while staying grounded in love and commitment. Today, everything I do is because of them—to give back what they deserve and to make them proud of the kid they raised.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Every day I remind myself that it’s about the journey, not just the destination. This industry is tough, and when I first started, I felt that deeply—doors were closed to me, and rejection came often. But I chose to carve my own path and make my own rules. Now, whenever something goes wrong, I remind myself why I started and what I’m chasing. This industry is full of “no’s,” but I get to choose what those “no’s” mean for me—and I choose to let them make me stronger and push me forward.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Being Puerto Rican is more than an identity—it’s a part of me, engraved in who I am. We are a people full of warmth, always ready to lend a hand or share a meal when someone is in need. My parents taught me the value of being human, open, and giving, and that’s how I try to live every day—including in the work I do.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I almost followed the path I was “supposed” to once, and it felt completely wrong. One thing I’m very clear about in my life is that I was born to inspire—I was born to be a beacon of hope, to show others that anything they want in life is achievable with hard work and preparation. Talent alone isn’t enough; it’s the willingness to learn, grow, and become the best version of yourself that truly matters.
