bae (watersignbae) of Downtown on Life, Lessons & Legacy

bae (watersignbae) shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning bae , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
I would hire me 100 times. I always do a good job and I always care about my work. The only time that changes is when the work is not deserved.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

I’m Bae, an emerging artist representing Atlanta by way of Texas. I create within rap, rnb, and pop, blending them into a sound that is uniquely mine. My voice, cadence, and melodies set me apart, yet the music always feels relatable. Right now, I’m focused on consistently releasing strong singles and preparing a very fun four-song EP with close collaborators. My brand is about authenticity, originality, and creating music that resonates while pushing the boundaries of sound and style.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I no longer believe in the limits others placed upon me and that I in turn placed upon myself.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience and resilience. It showed me that pain is temporary, but the strength and perspective you gain from it stay with you. Success feels good, but struggle reminds you that no matter how heavy it gets, you will always find a way through.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The version of me you see in public is always the real me. I can’t put on an act for social media because I’m very much an in-real-life kind of person. I believe that by staying true to myself, the things meant for me will always find their way to me.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I give everything my best and no one has praised me for it.
